He's not the worst, but he is definitely shite.

I don't mind N'Gog, though he's a very frustrating player to watch because he poses such little goal threat. He should never start up front on his own and looking at his weaknesses, I wouldn't be surprised if he eventually developed to be better elsewhere on the pitch, maybe as a winger or something. His finishing is appalling.

Ian Moores surely has to be wore than those :D

The problem with Ngog is even when he does get a goal (invariably flying off his arse or something ) he then doesnt seem to gain any confidence or belief from it. Beckford might if he grabs one or two but somehow Ngog ,who does some things very well at times , is just never going to be a goalcorer. He doent seem to have that belief or hunger or arrogance. As a couple of people have mentioned only cravies seems to look he sees scoring as part of his job and is willing to have a crack . I'm mystified as to why he doesnt get more starts. Certainly scored more at this level in the last couple of years than anyone else we have

He's not an anything though! He doesn't create, he doesn't hold it up consistently, he can't head, he doesn't run in behind, and most of all, he doesn't fecking score. What he does do, is about once a game gloriously pull one out of the sky, beat a man in one movement and lay it off and everyone goes, 'oh well look, isn't he fab'. He then shanks the next six out for a throw-in before falling over a bit, beating a couple of men and then not shooting, or passing, unless that's the wrong option, and then going off because he fancies a lie-down and we're losing. The shithouse.

Not that I don't rate him or owt.

And that one moment of fleeting brilliance is what pisses me off the most.

There are others, but N'Gog is more a frustrating let down than properly crap. But, granted ... he IS a let down.
We didn't pay £4.5m for them (not that money was in the equation). N'gog is somewhere round about our 4th/5th most expensive player ever.

4.5 is a bit of an overstatement, but again, lets be clear, that list of players that are more expensive than him includes players all bought previously. There is a general direction of travel here, and its against the grain of general spending.

That's quite a complicated sentence, from which I think I deduce

1) He's shite
2) He's not value for money either.

Indeed. I wish he was better than he is. He has the ability to be better than he is. He isn't. he's the poor man's Elmander. A bottler.

We only suffered Rasiak for a few months and even then only in glimpses. When you have to put up with Ngog week in week out for what will soon be three years, there seems to be a limit on how much you can take.

In what way are they doing that? The pic was just a joke, but are we really doing any better for all our modernity? I haven't quite clocked that bit yet?

I mean, there is some merit in looking back to the past I think. Davies was clearly well past it, but big players like Jussi and Nolan have continued to perform in the Premier League long after we sent them packing. In the meantime we've bought a string of shite and headed downwards.

Our time in the sun was always likely to end at some point, but we've done a pretty awful job at trying not to undo the good work of the Allardyce-era.

Kevin Davies had to go at some point. The issue for me was not so much when we got rid of him (though I definitely think it was the right time if not even a bit late) but how we dealt with it. Since none of our strikers are scoring at the moment, we don't seem to have dealt with it very well.

I'm not sure he means it. Chris are you just gently lampooning Douglas?
