Re: Freedman out!
That's not really the point. I just don't think we are in a position where we should be classifying any games as 'gimmes'. Sounds a bit like what West Ham and Newcastle fans might have said when they faced 'little old Bolton'.thebish wrote:BWFCi has always been generous to managers losing to clubs that might seem to some people to be beatable.... errr....Lord Kangana wrote:Is that a serious question? Ah yes of course, Gus Poyet. The man who was suspended from Brighton for gross misconduct and hasn't been touched with a barge pole since.
Personally, not someone I'd want at the club.

It IS kinda what you said about Blackburn after we beat them and Coyle was in charge...
this is basically what LK is saying... beating Yeovil is not enough to say that Freedman is on track...BWFCi wrote:But certainly beating a poor side in disarray is not enough alone!

I know what he's saying. But winning any game in isolation isn't going to be enough is it?thebish wrote:BWFC_Insane wrote:That's not really the point. Just believe a side bottom of the league can't be talking about gimmes, under any circumstances.

No idea but you don't get sacked for no reason and then have your appeal turned down.Annoyed Grunt wrote:What did he do?89bwfc89 wrote:Ah yes of course, Gus Poyet. The man who was suspended from Brighton for gross misconduct and hasn't been touched with a barge pole since.

Re: Freedman out!
He was hawking himself about and making it plain he fancied other 'bigger' jobs whilst in the midst of a serious chance at promotion. The team went off the boil. The club asked him what his plans were and he wouldn't reply.
When they binned him he lied (proven) about not knowing about it and that he'd been wrongly treated and not communicated with properly. He went on TV & pretended to be shocked although it was later shown that he knew full well and HAD been kept up to date but he was not responding to the club.
He then rubbished the club ... again on live TV while also appealing the decision.
He also talks in an amazing cod Spanish accent.
There is talk that he did something unpleasant at Crystal Palace's ground ... the sort of thing best done into a toilet was done in a changing room floor. But I don't know about that.
Personally I think it's that accent.

Is the alleged dirty protest alone not enough to not want him at the club?

Indeed. The last thing we need right now is more shit in the dressing room. I thangyoo.89bwfc89 wrote:Is the alleged dirty protest alone not enough to not want him at the club?

If it's correct ... yes. I'd think so.89bwfc89 wrote:Is the alleged dirty protest alone not enough to not want him at the club?
For me his shameless self promotion whist he had a job to do ... and then the public media manipulation shows a calculated nastiness whic, while less disgusting, is more destructive long term.
Besides, he's shown little desire to be far from that London.
So .... "next !"

Re: Freedman out!
Not sure any, er, shit has stuck from that alleged dressing-room farrago. Even if it happened, I doubt it would have been enough (in the football world) to warrant a sacking, even if you might call it, er again, gross misconduct. I suspect that there were other motives behind the parting of the ways. They'd spent a lot of money, but it wasn't enough for him, and he was becoming a very dominant personality. Hate to break it to tender hearts but I think our man Gus might think himself a little above the Championship, and certainly above its, er for the final time, bottom-feeders.
Re: Freedman out!
The official line from Brighton, taken from their website....
'Following a suspension, investigation, disciplinary meeting, and separate appeal hearing, which was conducted by three members of the club's board in London on July 11 and July 12 2013, Brighton & Hove Albion today confirmed that after further consideration Gus Poyet's dismissal for gross misconduct has been upheld.'
So whatever happened, they're classing it as gross misconduct and that's why I wouldn't want him at our club.

Re: Freedman out!
I understand that, '89. And I'm not defending the alleged action (an internal disciplinary meeting not being the same as a guilty verdict in a court case, we can't safely say on here that he did it without us breaking the libel law, so it's worth restating on TW's behalf that Poyet denies any involvement with the dressing-room incident).
I'm just saying that, if Brighton wanted to get rid of a manager for any reason, they would be more likely to pin it on the gross misconduct than on "Yeah, we thought he was getting too big for his boots and asking for too much money". Makes the club look better, wouldn't you say?
I wonder if they'd have been quite so conscientious had they just romped the Championship by 20 points. Maybe, but maybe not.

Re: Freedman out!
The whole shitting in Palace's changing room is literally nothing other than people putting two and two together. I've never heard any actual suggestion that it was him. Why would he have done it?
I don't see any reason why he wouldn't consider us. We have been a more successful club than Brighton over recent years, and our wage budget will dwarf theirs.
Better than Dougie, but I'd go for a more experienced option.

Re: Freedman out!
Firstly BWFC, The Players and Dougie all have my have my unfaltering support whether in the premiership or conference because it is the team I support. Regrettably football in the era we live in means loyalty is a rare commodity were fans and media want instant success or failure ( In case of media ), and 3 matches without a win is a disaster.
At the start of this season Arsenal fans and the media were questioning Wengers credentials because Villa beat them and they had signed no-one. Now the same people are suggesting they may challenge for the title.
I still have faith in Dougie and know a couple of wins on the bounce, will mend any rifts in the dressing room as a bad run divides a team a successful run brings them together.
We are talking on this thread as if Dougie has gone, he hasn't and he and the team need our support and backing, if he doesn't get it maybe we don't deserve anywhere higher than the conference.

Re: Freedman out!
What was interesting, from an employment point of view in the murky World of football, was that B&HA went through a "normal" disciplinary process just ordinary employees would experience. That led to a 'normal' dismissal on Gross Mis. terms. So, no Pay off, no pay in lieu, nada.
He'd have been stunned at that.

Re: Freedman out!
The difference between Coyle and Freedman is this
Coyle was all about the first team and he was fcuking shocking at that - lets not forget he started last season with a squad he would've wanted if we'd stayed up
Freedman is about building something - aye results matter but I'd much prefer two seasons finishing 10th while he sorts it to two seasons missing out in the playoffs built on the thinnest of ice
I'm still in full support and still convinced he'll do the job we need doing - a view based on stuff I've learned from folk who know whats happening inside the club rather than us amateurs on here
I just hope Gartside aint daft enough to listen to a few cretins who think changing the manager changes owt
