Re: Freedman out!
He wasn't after the Reading job? He talked to them! (Source: The BBC.) What were they discussing, do you imagine? I reckon it was the possibility that he take over the job as their manager. By any sensible rationale, that means he was "after" - interested in - the job. Doesn't it? Or have I spent all these years not understanding English?BL3 wrote:He wasn't 'after' the Reading job.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:In what way did anything you typed thereafter disprove what I'd said - that he was after the Reading job before Brighton's play-offs?
Unless it didn't suit him.BL3 wrote:If he was, he would have taken it.
I didn't use "classy" to imply he was touting for the Reading job. I used it to say he gave it very careful consideration despite the fact his current side were in the thick of a promotion battle.BL3 wrote:You've also 'selectively' left out the word 'classy', which you originally used to imply that he was touting for the Reading job. He wasn't. They approached Brighton. He didn't approach them.
I love you.BL3 wrote:These are just basic facts which aren't even that difficult to check.
You can split enough hairs to make a straw man if you wish, but I fear you may be making yourself look silly.
Re: Freedman out!
The timing of their approach is nothing to do with him. Why shouldn't he speak to a club that were in the Premier League at the time? If he'd been underhand and spoken to them without Brighton's permission before resigning to take the job and leaving Brighton managerless, it might warrant the snide use of the word 'classy'. As he didn't do that, it doesn't.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:I didn't use "classy" to imply he was touting for the Reading job. Re: Freedman out!
So you don't deny he was interested in the Reading job, before Brighton's play-offs? Only, a few posts ago you said that was "complete rubbish".
Re: Freedman out!
So they sounded him out, realised he wasn't interested and then asked Brighton for official permission to speak to him? Or did they just speak to him about the job in principal without bothering to go into any real detail about it? Or maybe he just forgot to ask them during the course of this alleged conversation.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:You'd also be naive to believe that Poyet wasn't sounded out for interest before an approach was made to Brighton, whether that be directly or indirectly.

Re: Freedman out!
There's a difference between saying that he was 'interested in' and saying that he was 'after' the Reading job. The latter implies that he was actively seeking it, particularly when you add the word 'classy', as if he'd gone about it in some underhand fashion, when in fact he'd actually followed the correct procedure. Maybe you don't understand English after all.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:So you don't deny he was interested in the Reading job, before Brighton's play-offs? Re: Freedman out!
He's nowhere near good enough as a manager and he should be sacked tonight. We don't create anything when we're going forward and we can't defend either, so he has nothing going for him. He's one of the worst managers I've had the displeasure of watching and the sooner he's gone, the better.

Re: Freedman out!
Surely no one can still believe that he is the right man for the job.
People say that it would cost to much to sack him, but how much will relegation cost us ??
He has to go, and go NOW !!!!!!!!

Agree....we can't defend & we can't score goals, absolutely zero signs of improvement in any area since Freedman started.SmokinFrazier wrote:He's nowhere near good enough as a manager and he should be sacked tonight. Get Freedman (& Gartside) out now - yet another shocking managerial appointment. We are not the club for Freedman to learn about how to become a manager, we needed experience someone to come in and stick a rocket up the arses of this overpaid shower of shite.
I know the players are equally to blame but they are clearly not playing for Freedman, and all this tinkering and changing of formation week in week out - he's not a clue what team & formation to play.
Both of them are absolutely clueless....
Re: Freedman out!
I think it's time for Dougie to go. Sad to say as I think he's a decent chap and very intelligent, but for all that he just can't seem to work out what's wrong with the team and how to go about fixing it.
As for a replacement, I've not a clue, but I get the feeling it's going to get worse before it gets better for Wanderers. Perhaps relegation, a complete clear out of the playing and senior coaching staff and a new recruitment policy would do us a world of good. We've come back from the doldrums before and I'll always support the team but something needs to change or we're in bigger trouble than just falling down to League 1.

Its when now, not if
I still think he'll get yeovil
I actually think there is a good manager in there (unlike coyle) but there are too many problems now. We'll roll the dice andhope for the inevitable lift under a new bloke. But the spineless bastards will continue to let him down.
PS
Gartside shouldnt choose the next one
