As for a replacement, I've not a clue, but I get the feeling it's going to get worse before it gets better for Wanderers. Perhaps relegation, a complete clear out of the playing and senior coaching staff and a new recruitment policy would do us a world of good. We've come back from the doldrums before and I'll always support the team but something needs to change or we're in bigger trouble than just falling down to League 1.
That's exactly what people were saying when we were relegated from the Prem. And look how's that turned out. How many divisions are we going to have to drop?!
Presumably because it's not possible to have a "complete clear out" of your entire staff, including the players, unless you're willing (and able) to buy out their contracts.

Re: Freedman out!
What happens if Chelsea buy all the players in the world and pay them all £100,000 a week while giving out free tickets to fans. Then halfway through the season Abromavich wipes the debt and the next season they do the same. Could this happen as far as FPP goes. I know it sounds daft but then nothing is impossible with that amount of money on tap.

Re: Freedman out!
Nobody would take that seriously (including Kevin Davies I imagine). It is worth noting though what and who we've had up front since he left, and exactly what they've done in terms of goals. I'm fed up of hearing how well N'gog runs the channels and how great he is at holding the ball up. He had a glorious one on one chance with their keeper today and managed to hit him. Sordell, Afobi, Craig Davies, N'gog and Beckford might all be considered decent, but what exactly are they doing as strikers? K.D's day's gone, but as a threat to defences not a one of our current lot could hold a candle to him. Upson especially was terrified of him. Who's terrified of this lot, except the fans of course?Whookam wrote:We've also got the 'Bring back Kevin Davies' brigade.CrazyHorse wrote:Some pissed up old fella on Jimmy Wagg's phone in on GMR has just suggested Phil Brown to replace Freedman. I stand corrected. I'd read somewhere that the sanctions were left unexplained.Worthy4England wrote:We do. No sanctions before 2014/15. After which, it's a tranfer embargo if you were to remain in the Championship. Should you get promoted to the Prem having breached the FFP rules, you get a sliding scale "FFP Tax" ranging from 1% for 0-£100k breach to 100% on anything over £10m.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:I don't think we should worry about FFP in that scenario. We don't even know the penalties for not meeting FFP. It could be a smack on the wrist for all we know. Even if it is a harsh punishment I'm not sure it would stand up in a court anyway, given how vague the whole thing is. That isn't to say we should chuck money around.officer_dibble wrote:If we pay freedman (plus lennie et al) off where does it sit ffp wise?
There are some exclusions from FFP - these are
1) Investment in youth development can be excluded from the "loss" side, as can promotion payments and investment in a Club's community scheme
2) Selling fixed assets (excluding players) is excluded from "profit"
Other things you can exclude are
Career ending injury costs, bad debts from other Clubs and losses sustained from a major sponsor defaulting...
Other than that, I think everything counts...

Re: Freedman out!
The problem with Freedman is that he thinks & believes that he's a good manager, the next Mourinho, Capello, Ferguson....IMO a bit cocky, slightly arrogant, up his own arse, I know better etc....
When in reality he's more the level of David Flitcroft & Keith Hill, he's over complicating playing in the championship with stupid tactics, formations and trying to be clever tinkering with the team every week.
I may be totally wrong but he doesn't come across as the type of manager that players would run through a brick wall for.

Please tell what this means
Tell me what system our players suit.......
In your opinion what manager would suit our players and what's a proper centre forward
I haven't completely given up on Freedman but it's looking fvcking grim!
We are still as yellow as a submarine Pulis is a fighter so that would be my choice if we were to get rid.
I'm also interested in BWFCI choice of manger if we were to replace him and if he'd suit our players

Re: Freedman out!
I would cry if we got Pulis.
Then again I was happy for a while when we got Coyle and Freedman, well it was "who ??" but overall it was OK ... at least it wasn't Coyle any longer. I was "meh" about Megson, though I thought his 'welcome' was unreasonable. I never quite believed in Sammy Lee.
Freedman has been asked to change the structure of the club. We don't really know about the behind the scenes stuff, but in front of it is a mess and I have to think that his tactics are wrong, his coaching isn't working and his player selection both into the club and on matchdays is highly questionable.
If he stays he has to alter. I'm not sure he can alter.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: Freedman out!
Which is why you need a good manager to fix the problems, on and off the pitch. The players aren't showing the right attitude because the last two managers to guide them haven't demanded any respect and it has shown on the pitch.throwawayboltonian wrote:I dunno, during our run last season it appeared that the team would to me. Lawrence isn't our manager. Re: Freedman out!
That's irrelevant. We don't have the sort of players Ferguson liked either but if he came out of retirement to manage us, we'd still win the league. Our squad isn't ideal for Pulis but that's not to say he wouldn't do a good job. A good manager - and Pulis is one - is able to adjust to the players, just as much as they adjust to the manager.BWFC_Insane wrote:Do the players we've got suit Pulis? Aside from that, a 4-4-2 with Beckford and N'Gog up front, Chungy and Eagles out wide and Spearing alongside Ream in central midfield is hardly night and day to what Pulis likes. Our central defence options are probably his wet dream too.

Re: Freedman out!
Ahh, but not being a good manager doesn't come into it though does it? Well, not according to your criteria that is simply "I think we need someone with experience in charge", so let's get Peter Reid in, eh? Dowie? Souness?SmokinFrazier wrote:Lawrence isn't our manager. Whoever comes in has to be able to turn the current group into, if not so much a winning side at least one that's difficult to beat. Experience alone just isn't going to cut it. Oh, and Mick McCarthy's hardly likely to leave Ipswich for us now is he?

We also had Alonso & Ricketts who in fairness, were miles better than the one's Dougies brought in to replace them.

Re: Freedman out!
I would also be very unhappy if we were to get Pulis in fact I think it would be the worst appointment we have made not only in my life time but in most of your lifetimes, it would seriously make me consider as to whether I wanted to chuck my money about watching this football club. I don't need to go into detail as to who I think would be the ideal candidate.bobo the clown wrote:I would cry if we got Pulis.
