Good call, Monty. I remember vividly the first time I walked out of the opticians with a brand new pair of specs perched on my nose. I was only thirty at the time. My 'new' long distance vision was an absolute revelation.

Mine have always been bifocals. A few work colleagues and friends have had the variable lenses but about half of them detested them and reverted to their original type (some wore reading and distant specific lenses). Given that 'failure' rate I have not tried the multifocals. Mind you, having to look through the lenses at specific angles for certain distances seems rather inconvenient to me. Perhaps someone who uses them might comment on that aspect.

I was told I needed bifocals earlier this year. I opted for progressive lenses in the end. I don't have the bifocal line and there is no blur, so. Effectively I have 3 zones on the lenses of my specs: short, intermediate and long distance. My brother in law has bifocals and he has to perch his specs on the end of his nose and tilt his head to read, whereas I don't need to. Definitely recommend them

Thanks, Twinny. It's interesting as to how people adapt. In my case the bifocals have not been a problem - other than the first few days getting used to the blurred bit at the bottom - and reading with them on came naturally. Perhaps it was because I was a banker at the time and looked down my nose at everything and everyone.

I know little more than you. However, for a team to come back from and 8-1 deficit to win 8-9 is surely a noteworthy event.

Perhaps Ben Ainslie could give the half time team talks for us until the end of the season.

As a golfer I was always a very long, if not accurate, hitter - 300 yard drives were not uncommon in favourable conditions. When I played again a couple of years ago after a lengthy absence from the game I crushed my first drive and remarked "Well, at least I can still hit it out of sight!" However, when I paced off the drive at 225 yards, I realized that the parameters for "out of sight" had changed and I should be thinking about an eye test.
maybe your stride had got longer!

Bobbing Bobcat apparently ... once I stopped being twitchy.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Feels like a traditional record company and buy on CD in a shop method would have you receiving a lot less in the dollar, but this way there's less cost involved so it feels like they're making an easy 32p off you. They probably made easy money back in the day too, mind.

Congrats though, now means you are professional!
