Marc Iles ‏@MarcIles 3m
News of a new loan signing should be up on the BN website in the next few minutes.

Nixon saying that we were after two defenders today but that it has not been 'great' on that front, but we might get a midfielder.

So Danns.

Sounds like we are getting frustrated trying to find a defender that a club will let go of. Should have bought one in August .......

We are picking up scraps now. Clearly we are chasing defenders but their clubs aren't letting them out yet.

Apparently we want to sign 5 players. Essentially we've left it too late in my view. For whatever reason.

This is a market to fill an injury gap with not to try and rebuild in this way!

More midfielders? really? Have we not got enough of them?

This is very frustrating. If there is money to get loans why wasn't it spent getting a proper season long loan in during the real window where we would have potentially had a much wider choice?

Why wasn't the money used to get Baird in on a free? If that is what was identified as being needed?

If Eddie felt the squad was and is strong enough why loosen the purse strings now?

Some backwards thinking going on I feel.

I assume you're looking for a reason more sophisticated than the glaringly obvious 'Because the manager is a clueless chancer', yes?

if (as you say) we are having difficulty signing defenders because clubs don't want to release them yet - why would clubs have wanted to release them earlier?

They might not have but Baird was sitting around for months before Reading signed him.

The trouble with leaving it till now is that you can only get people for 3 months, then what?

And clubs will know there is no rush to get their players out as opposed to pre window shutting when the market was moving.

If Eddie has suddenly realised we need new players now, then this is incredibly frustrating, in my view.

How many ex-Palace or former Freedman teammates has he signed?

Thankfully, the club aren't committing to anything long term with these signings.
