Nah, it's just me dismissing someone who either has a personality disorder or a serious chip on his shoulder. If that's how he wants to be, I'm not going to be drawn into writing long winded replies to his pettiness. It's ridiculous and childish, much like the way you keep making sniping comments about me or trying to drag me into an argument.

If you or thebish want to discuss football, we can do that because I have no issue with either of you, which clearly can't be said the other way around, but I'm not going to spend all day replying to someone being absurdly petty in order to get one over on me. I couldn't care less about those sorts of things. Like I said before, it's this type of tit-for-tat nonsense which blights the forum yet you and he both seem unable to stop trying to pick an argument, so I'll choose to not reply to either of you in the future unless you're willing to be mature and reasonable.

But there is no discussion with you. I wish there was. You post up your opinion like it's the authorised version of events, then, when asked to substantiate you're either unable or unwilling to. Or, as seems to be the case here you simply accuse people of either having a pop at you or being childish. Why won't you answer the questions posed by thebish? I've seen him play a few times and from what I've seen, he's not good enough to start ahead of the players in his best position. Could he start? Yeah, he could so feel free to pull me up on that, but Freedman could play Bogdan and Lonergan up front with Jay Spearing in net yet I don't think it should be picked up on if someone says he won't. You just have to assume that the manager will pick the best team possible and from what I know, that means Danns won't warrant a place in our starting 11 or be first option in case of injury/suspension.

you are using Danns' loan as a pretext to bash dougie BEFORE you have even seen how he performs in the role dougie hs brought him in for..

He'll be 4th choice? 5th, maybe? To bring in someone who won't walk into the team on high wages and a possible loan fee is ridiculous

you said that signing him is ridiculous.

you backed that up by making an assumptions about what role he might play in the team and then - having seen Danns play "a few times" have decided that he is worse than just about our whole midfield - even though you still don't know what role dougie has in mind for him.

personally, I think it is ridiculous if you

a) haven't yet seen how a player fits into dougie's plan
b) don't know what dougie's plans for him actually are
c) don't really know that much about him
d) assume he is on high wages when you know no such thing
e) assume some kind of a loan fee when you know no such thing

to use a player's loan signing as some kind of stick to bash dougie with.

by all means - do that when/if you have seen how badly Danns performs or if he is never picked - but it's ludicrous to do so at this time.

I am struggling to see what is "strange" about disagreeing with the idea that it is OK to dismiss a signing as a waste of money and proclaim that he won't get into the team BEFORE you have even seen him kick a ball for the club in the role that dougie has planned for him. I don't think it is "strange" at all to wait and see what dougie has in mind before announcing that his loanees are a waste of money and won't get in the side. I'd have thought that far from being "strange" - this is just common sense...

thought this forum was supposed to be about opinions. SF has offered one on the players being brought in. Don't think he needs to have seen them lots to have that opinion, as their age/ career record gives a good indication of what can be expected. Of course they may come in and be a revelation (lets bleedin hope so), but going down the lets wait and see, is effectively offering no opinion, and seems a bit like in DF we trust/ sitting on the fence.

FWIW I really hope it works out for DF and more importantly the club, but at this moment he's not giving the impression of a man with a plan - too many U turns, but a couple of wins can work wonders for manager, team, fans and forum members. Fingers crossed. COYW

He very much presented it as fact. Bish challenged that it made no sense and what with it being an Internet forum Smokey can either debate the facts/opinion as he sees it. In this case he went for personal stuff. Bish can be a pedant at times, but I think on this occasion he does have a point. All Bish is asking is how Smokey can make such a statement that logically (that I can see) is baseless?

Relative football ability is always a matter of opinion - particularly as DF is on his players with right character recruitment mission which is even harder to judge, measure and agree on. Facts - league table and club accounts - even the opta stats seem open to interpretation and debate.

We all hope and pray they work out, but hand on heart, how many can genuinely say they aren't a little disappointed with our new recruits - not writing them off, just a bit underwhelmed and keeping fingers crossed
