Chungy hasn't been his best for a while. I've seen Feeney in all 3 games for us and he's an obvious grafter.bwfcdan94 wrote:Yes but if we are to make our opinions of footballers based on one game then we are in big trouble, mind you I said the same after Halls first game so we will see. Really? Did you watch the game yesterday?
You're comment about this being the best squad you've seen in recent years is complete rubbish unless you've only been watching since last season.

Re: Liam Feeney
As mad as it sounds, especially coming from Dan, he's not far off.
With a fully fit Holden and Mark Davies, we're only a decent center half and a goal scorer off having a squad that could compete in the Premier League. The inclusion of Spearing and Medo along with an all firing midfield of Chris Eagles, Mark Davies, Lee and Holden would get us results in the Premier League.
A lot of ifs but I think I can see where he's coming from.

Re: Liam Feeney
Feeney so far has given the team some drive going forwards, something Chungy hasn't done for a while. CYL too often sits outside the game, offering one or two nice touches here and there but nothing substantial or ultimately useful.
It could just be a confidence thing, because he's easily done it in the past, but also, when was the last time he was used on the right hand side? I've only seen him recently on the left, having to cut inside to do anything, and perhaps it's that that isn't helping either. Not every player can do that 'modern' thing of playing on the opposite wing and becoming an inside forward.

If we're now 'prioritising attitude over ability' it's because we're struggling at the wrong end of the table. These loan signings aren't a sign of Dougie's managerial genius, they're a last ditch measure to address something that he could and should have addressed much earlier. We might not be in this position if he'd got the balance of the team right before the season started.BWFC_Insane wrote:Danns was doing the running that our so called 'talented players' don't fancy doing. So he worked back when needed and supported Beckford when needed. Which involved a lot of running and effort. Was it an eye catching display? No, but it was a very much needed display in a role that we've found other players struggle with.
And he got a goal. Right now we are rightly prioritising attitude over ability. And Danns is showing exactly the right attitude.

Re: Liam Feeney
Indeed. I didn't suggest otherwise. I think certain players have let themselves and the club down. That isn't to say we shouldn't have had these sorts in at the start. Whether that was Dougies fault of an inability to bring them in then I don't know.BL3 wrote:If we're now 'prioritising attitude over ability' it's because we're struggling at the wrong end of the table. You're right, but he's not getting sacked any time soon so I'm happy things are starting to improve. If it's slips back he'll have to be replaced. I prefer to look for positives, makes my football-going experience more enjoyable.BL3 wrote:If we're now 'prioritising attitude over ability' it's because we're struggling at the wrong end of the table. Re: Liam Feeney
I think we're an entire back line and two strikers away, plus some players coming back to previous form (ala Chungy, Beckford at his previous clubs). I'm not sure that Bogdan is ultimately the keeper to take us forward if back in the Premier League, and the defence is either too old, too crap or too injured to do anything in the top division. It's funny thinking about it now, but I've watched him play pretty well for his new club and I can't help thinking that we miss Marcos Alonso. He is IMO a Premier League player and someone we let go for quite a small fee relative to his current standard and potential. Likewise Steinsson but his wage demands were ultimately too high.hi there, i'm chris wrote:As mad as it sounds, especially coming from Dan, he's not far off.

We used to be so good at finding good cheap players that we could get good results out of and then sell for bigger money... not so much anymore (I miss the Scandinavian days of Claus Jensen, Eidur Gudjohnsen, Per Frandsen, Michael Johansen and co.). Having said that I think Dougie's loan signings, something that is an increasingly important part of life in the Championship for any side, have been for the most part pretty good. Dawson was inspired, Feeney is working out well so far and we signed the promising Rob Hall off the back of mini-loan spell. They were brought in to do a job in key areas and like I say for the most part the loanees have done that, actually putting our own players to shame somewhat.
