Pratley did struggle out on the wing. Thought Baptiste was very tidy in defense though.
Either Brum were asleep or Feeney has a great knack of finding acres of space. He'll relieve pressure on the defense all game long if teams let him do that.

Quick word, too, for McNaughton.
You know a right-back's had a good game when you can't remember who the opposition's left midfielder was.

Re: Snoop Dogg's Bluenoses Vs. Amir Khan's Wanderers
I'm actually looking forward to reading Sunday's and Monday's papers for the first time in a fair while. All the better for winning with a solid performance. Pratley looked bewildered out left for a while, but the general effort was very good. Shefield will know all about Feeney now so we need to get the left side operating too. Feeney's crosses bending away just too far to tempt the keeper forward were delightful to watch. I'd like our midfield to work it forward a bit more- we got pushed back quite a bit today- and slide a few for Beckford to get a run at instead of the longer stuff. All encouraging though and a good Saturday night feeling for a change.

Good comparison, that.

Utterly delighted with the win, and hoping, rather than praying, that we can begin to look up.
Made up for Beckford. Good luck to him. Watching his goal, he nearly slips over just after turning the defender, then arguably his first touch didn't move him quite as centrally as might have been expected... But lashing that ball home might just have broken the seal... Let's all hope so: he could've had another in the second half when his header from a lovely Feeney cross banged against the bar. And, as Tango says, let's hope the dudes behind him can slip a few through on the deck rather than over the top. He's capable of scoring a fair few this term. Glad DF kept faith in him.
Great save from Bogdan kept us level going into half-time. Glad DF kept faith in him.
Good work from Feeney for the second goal. Always into see a winger in form. Let's hope we can keep him a while yet, because DF appears to have plucked a belter there.
Nice work also from Danns to be chasing that ball in at all. There's little doubt that sometimes we sit too deep, etc, but if the three behind the striker can cover the hard yards and get up in support then nice, three-point-shaped things happen. Derided by Leicester (as was Beckford, and Mills), Danns appears to have the appetite for the job. Long may it continue, and well done DF for roping him in.
Let's not get carried away. Both our goals came from Blues errors (centre-back then goalkeeper) and as is almost always the way we let the oppoes back into the game. We were somewhat fortunate not to concede a penalty for Feeney's handball (although considering we were denied a spot-kick from a similar incident late in the League Cup Final, I'll happily see us get away with one of those in every game forever). We might easily have dropped two points; we could all too conceivably have lost all three. But we didn't, and it's tempting to see that as indicative of a better spirit, while the punishments meted out for those Birmingham mistakes were also pleasingly ruthless.

"One swallow does not a summer make, nor one fine day; similarly one day or brief time of happiness does not make a person entirely happy." - Aristotle
Don't get me wrong as I was ever so pleased to awake this fine day and to read that we had finally won a game. Euphoria is too strong a description so a qualified happy will have to do. The pessimist within has since taken over. "Our first win in how many games?" he whispers and then adds "Only losing 5 games this season is good?" Then there's the inevitable "Check the home record for Fortress Reebok" - that one in particular hurts. I'm finding it difficult to fend him off. Somewhere I have a bottle of cheap brandy so I'm off to take a quick shot and see if that will shut him up for a while.

I hope the tide is finally turning but you'll not shut up the nonsense merchants that easily.

This place is grim.
Actually felt good this morning waking up knowing we'd won a game. On to here and it's already turned into a pessifest.
Goalkeeper mistake away from 3 points against Yeovil.
Blackpool. Scored in every game up until they played us.
Brum's last home game? 4-0.
Cheer up you lot.
Quick to criticise, let us be quick to praise too.
The team played really well and the game plan was there to see. Soak up the pressure. Out to Feeney and hit on the break.
Their goal maybe could have been prevented had Knight been on sooner to mark Zigic also reckon Bogdan could've got to the ball had he been better placed.
But hey ho it's 3 points so onwards and upwards. Believe!

We hadn't scored, so that's incorrect.DJBlu wrote:This place is grim.

Removing the summer break doesn't make that stat any better. You could remove every day we didn't play and it's still one win in 13. If it helps though I can include the pre season games too. Maybe that'll help make Freedman look like the footballing genius he clearly is?a1 wrote:we didn't play a league game for four (maybe its three) of them.CrazyHorse wrote:We've had one win in six months. better feeling than a week ago and there is some light at the end of the tunnel. But it's a bloody long tunnel.i only looked, properly, at the league table yestetday and another win will barely lifts us.... and six wins off the top two ... after eleven played !! So, good. There's some hope but by 'eck we have some recovery to make.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
