I could show you a thousands images of birds that people call seagulls, and you would simply say the terminology was inaccurate and that it was actually something else. Very true no doubt but people know what is meant when a real bird is called, however inaccurately, a seagull. Ditto a buffalo.
Here is one from wiki entitle Seagull on Sale Pier

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
if you showed me that picture and you and your mate told me it was actually a Coylemegsonbird, that would be your right - but it still wouldn't be one.
while I am on the subject - there is no such thing as a seagull. Your picture is a Silver Gull.

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
I didn't call it a seagull - the chap who took the picture did. That's the point. I realize it may not be ornithologically correctly identified but I understood the title. I also understood what Spotty meant - not to mention Milton et al. A shame you get hung up on technicalities. By the way, does God exist?thebish wrote:if you showed me that picture and you and your mate told me it was actually a Coylemegsonbird, that would be your right - but it still wouldn't be one.

well done for understanding the title! there is no such thing as a seagull, though... Canada does not have seagulls 1000 miles inland.
does God exist? you'd first have to tell me what you meant by "God"...

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

The naming of birds is always a controversial subject. And should really be avoided.
Let's get back to politics and religion.

Chekov should have spoken to Brighton FC fans about this whilst eating chips on a sea-front. Then it'd be decided.

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
He's saying they're called gulls Dan. They're generally found near the coasts and around the sea, so get described as seagulls. There are some near the tip at Raikes Lane. I don't think they're called Tip gulls, but I might be wrong...bwfcdan94 wrote:So what does Bish describe as a Seagull or is he still saying they don't exist.
