I hate to post such a typical me post but don't forget spoilers, as I'm planning on watching it, with Gravity, the day Gravity comes out.

difficult to spoil seeing as its based on a well known true story, but im sure WtW will deal with it without giving anything away.

Not sure what to make of Gravity, cant help thinking they've given too much away in the trailer, as stunning as it looks i wonder if theres gonna be much else in the rest of the film? also feel the same way about Bad Grandpa, theyve proabbly put all the best bits in that trailer too... ill still go and see em both anyway.

I've avoided reading about the true story since I saw the first trailer for this, but I have an idea as to what happens at the end. Still, hopefully it won't be spoilt.

I was always looking forward to Gravity but since its come out its been getting exceptional reviews, and is currently the 43rd highest rating film of all time on IMDb, so expectations are high. It also uses a song from the Sunshine theme, and there isn't a better soundtrack out there so that has to be a good.

a lot been said of the final scene... what did you make of it?
I hope no spoilers...

I think it's acted brilliantly and gives an excellent resolution of the movie. Do you agree, General?

That's perfectly alright if you're a shallow and materialistic son of a gun, but if you're wanting something a bit deeper than surface graphics then you're better off elsewhere.

It's sort of like an arthouse Michael Bay film.
What a ridiculous thing to say.

I thought the acting was no doubt incredible, but ultimately a bit unnecessary and indulgent?

Unnecessary? I think it needed a final resolution scene after the high tension of the climactic scenes, and was very glad it avoided the kind of Hollywood sentimental self indulgence that must have beckoned. I thought it was very nicely judged. Moving but not sick-making.

I saw Gravity with my wife. One other person in the theatre. It is as reported - great 3D visual effects and a story of sorts. We weren't bored but on occasion wished they'd get on with it. Should have gone to Phillips or Thor I think.

Re: General Phillips.. I had a few containers on a cross trade on the Maersk Alabama..

I've also got a few on the Maersk Salina that has had them all feckin blown off into the Bay of Biscay yesterday! Don't know if ours are affected like....

Interestingly, after the Alabama 'siege', they started ramping up security on their ships (Maersk) and one of my mates who's an ex marine went to work on board one of the ships that goes down the Suez Canal (most do). He told me they were targeted about 3 times per journey and that they 'engaged' more often than not when their sound blast thing didn't do the trick. Reckons they left a few Somalis floating in the sea. Was fascinating hearing some of the things that go on

Started to watch Dracula then realised that it was called Dracula and had the characters in the book in it that was where it ended so stopped after 15minutes. Why can't anyone do a decent version of that book, sticking to the actual book, in fact why use and link things to books that do not bear any resemblance to the book? - Don't get me start on that awful War of the Worlds thing with Tom Cruise

Taken on it's own, it's a decent film IMHO opinion

Bram Stoker's Dracula is the only film that I've ever fallen asleep to whilst in a cinema.

I hate motorsport but my mate made me watch that film ad I loved it. Guy Martin, a decent guy and very entertaining, but so much more to it that that.

^ Stumbled across Closer to the Edge just as it was starting. I was a little bit pished and stuffed to the gunnels after a good night out but had to stop up and watch it. What utter madness the TT is! The riders took all the death and destruction with a pinch of salt and just got on with it. Guy Martin, and in fact all the riders featured, comes across as a genuinely nice fella, if more than a little bit manic, but that collision at the end was nailed on to happen. How does anyone walk away, almost, from a 170mph fireball collision? Crazy people, but a terrific and absorbing film.
