Re: Time to pop Boneymouth's cherry
Certain people, those specifically pointed out by 89bwfc89, only ever pass comment on here when we lose and when they have something negative to say. Most of us would like to learn what they have to say when we've won, as well, but they go strangely quiet.StaffsTrotter wrote:89bwfc89 wrote:How quiet it is on here now.....

its not a pantomime. most people on here want the club to do well. do you not get the idea that different people have different opinions as to who and how the club can achieve that

Other than you, who ever suggested that it might be a pantomime?
May the bridges I burn light your way
Re: Time to pop Boneymouth's cherry
You already know my opinion, unless you're suggesting that people who don't think Freedman is a good manager will suddenly change their mind because we've just beaten a team who are bottom of the current form table with one whole win in their last seven games.Bruce Rioja wrote:Certain people, those specifically pointed out by 89bwfc89, only ever pass comment on here when we lose and when they have something negative to say. Do feck off BL3. You can never say anything positive. Always looking for the negative even when we win.BL3 wrote:You already know my opinion, unless you're suggesting that people who don't think Freedman is a good manager will suddenly change their mind because we've just beaten a team who are bottom of the current form table with one whole win in their last seven games.Bruce Rioja wrote:Certain people, those specifically pointed out by 89bwfc89, only ever pass comment on here when we lose and when they have something negative to say. Re: Time to pop Boneymouth's cherry
Unconvincing performance but I guess Dougie got it right today. We blocked a lot of Bournemouth shots and they never really looked too dangerous. Credit to our centre back pairing. Chungy had a bipolar game - it was an odd performance.
Our fans were brilliant. Was there with Dan and bristolwanderer - photo maybe coming soon? Perhaps not!
Days like this remind me why I bother with away matches when the going gets tough!

I'm sure they are big and ugly enough to stand up for themselves but their comments coinciding when we lose is quite patently not true - given their recent posting and our unbeaten run.Bruce Rioja wrote:Certain people, those specifically pointed out by 89bwfc89, only ever pass comment on here when we lose and when they have something negative to say. As to their negative commentary, I can see people want to put them in that pigeonhole and be generally dismissive, but I actually think they make some valid points - don't agree with it all but at least they have an opinion on what they'd do (for which they get stick). I'll take it back if these guys have been on here since the year dot and been the same with every manager /team in which case the negative comments would be fair enough.
As to the commenting on wins - Sf had alreay commented yet you asked SF about what credit Dougie should get for today. What credit do you think he should get ?. Its a good result. The stats make it sound like we surrendered possession, so not sure how much we deserved it (who cares) or how much it was a tactical masterstroke from DF, so it might be the underlying performance hasn't changed but perhaps we got a bit of luck & the result. As ever its a case of seeing if we can build on the result - confidence & performance & result.

I doubt anyone sets out to cast someone else in the role of pantomime villans or owt else. Maybe the majority of posters just see some in a particular light?

Hi Mar,Mar wrote:Great result from an expected performance. Nice to see both strikers on the scoresheet.
The boos for Knight coming on were a bit of a surprise. Surely bringing Knight on and having him hear boos for the substitutions won't be doing him any favours, hopefully he doesn't take it personally as i'm sure its down to the type of substitution (RM for a CB) than the actual player coming on.
I was at the game and never heard the boos, i am very surprised to hear that as nearly every bolton fan was giving it their all, it was non stop, the atmosphere was fantastic. I encourage all bolton fans to try an away game, i think we made a difference today, the football was not pretty at all, BUT, we got 3 points and i really dont care how.
Re: Time to pop Boneymouth's cherry
Definitely no boos. Lee was replaced by Knight and the 'LEEEEEEEEE' chants sometimes sound like boos.

Re: Time to pop Boneymouth's cherry
Always interesting to see how others view us.
This is from the Bournemouth web-site ...
Bolton arrived at Dean Court having won just once this season but took all three points in a resolute display. They coped better with the blustery conditions in a game where Bournemouth never threatened mustering just three shots on target.
Eddie Howe made two changes giving Lee Camp his debut in goal and bringing back Macdonald to replace Collison. Bolton had a very good team on paper and one wonders why they are struggling at the foot of the table with the likes of Spearing, N'Gog, Danns and Beckford in their line up. The latter got in front of Cook with the first attack but flicked his header over the cross-bar.
Bournemouth then had a very decent early flurry of play with Macdonald prominent in midfield and a good use of both flanks however the visitors defence was first to every cross and loose ball. Grabban and Rantie were clever outside the box but never gambling inside it to get across their men and therefore the early pressure went unrewarded. Rantie showed a couple of clever turns but both saw his efforts blocked and Grabban drifted deeper and deeper meaning when the ball did arrive there was never anyone there.
Beckford and N'Gog were showing how forwards should play, the former drawing a great save from Camp with a turn and drive. Both of them were in the box every time Bolton attacked and Cook and Elphick had to be assured to deal with them as Bolton took over the dominance.
In the middle of the half the pendulum of possession swung Bournemouths way again when a great move of 18 passes saw Rantie shoot at Lonregan and then the South African turned Mills but saw his shot deflected over the cross-bar. Again too often though the possession around the box was laboured and the final ball rushed and cleared. When they did break through Lonregan smartly parried Grabbans tight angle drive.
Bolton finished the half in the ascendancy. Spearing should have given them the lead when he blazed over from ten yards following Danns cross. They didn't have to wait long though - Rantie gave them the ball cheaply and the long diagonal ball into the box released N'Gog who rounded Camp and cleverly squeezed the ball back across the prone keeper and beyond Cook on the line. The ball was almost in slow motion as it crossed the line but it was enough for a half time lead.
HT Bournemouth 0 Bolton 1
There was to be no repeat of the heroics against Millwall by the trailing hosts. With Bolton sitting deeper and deeper Bournemouth had plenty of possession but the amount of fannying around had to be seen to be believed. Time after time a series of sideways triangles in front of the area finished with a rushed through ball to nobody or being caught while dwelling.
When the ball went wide there was either a delayed or wrong choice of cross or a decent cross which Grabban and Rantie stood admiring. A series of corners and long thows saw Bolton win the ball unchallenged every time as one pondered why we would use this tactic with Rantie, Fraser, Arter, Pugh and Grabban in the box so the whole thing was reliant on Francis to win the header. With Cook taking the throw and Elphick not venturing forward it beggared belief really.
Clearly realising that he needed strikers to attack the ball Eddie threw on Pitman and Thomas for Fraser and Rantie but then the side bizarrely decided to stop crossing and try and play through the middle with pace. Other than one blocked Thomas shot there was nothing else to report as Bolton comfortable dealt with every little reverse pass or lobbed cross.
Thomas shot over on the turn and then Surman arrived from the bench to land a 20 yarder straight down Lonnegans throat for the third and last home effort on target.
Bolton were looking more dangerous on the break as the home team committed men forward. Dann's shot inches wide across goal from the first great break and from the second Beckford wrapped it up when he was too strong for our centre halves and powered his way through to beat Camp with a thumping drive and seal the mass exodus of home fans.
FT Bournemouth 0 Bolton 2

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Feckin hell. Just got home after a ten hour drive to find we've won.
Yay. Maybe I need to piss off more often.

Re: Time to pop Boneymouth's cherry
I had the pleasure of meeting Hmx, Devon White and Bristol Wanderer today. 3 top lads who were superb company and helped make a great day out. Devon White brought me not 1 but 2 cokes and would not let me buy him a drink in return however hard I tried. I am really looking foreword to Watford and can safely say that today makes up for the utter rubbish I saw at Forest a few weeks ago.
It was a great result today and I thought we were marginally the better team and therefore deserved the result. Dougie played reasonably attacking football from the start and shut up shop in the 2nd halve that allowed us to play brilliant counter attacking football.

Ok, bar SF who managed one positive post today, the majority of their posts are negative and are usually posted when we don't win. As to their negative commentary, I can see people want to put them in that pigeonhole and be generally dismissive, but I actually think they make some valid points - don't agree with it all but at least they have an opinion on what they'd do (for which they get stick). Wait until you encounter BL3, try to engage him or her......let us know how frustrating you find it, when or if you do.
I'm not interested in casting anyone as a pantomime villain, I just can't comprehend a supposed BWFC fan ever wanting their team to lose for any reason. That reason alone is enough for me to dismiss their views.

Re: Time to pop Boneymouth's cherry
We're all Bolton fans and we all want the best for the club, so no matter what any of us think about how the backroom staff, the tactics, the players etc., a win is something we'll always enjoy. I can't say whether it was a good performance or not as I wasn't there, though even if it wasn't great, I'm still glad we won. I didn't rate Freedman's managerial ability last season, even during our good period results wise, but I hope that he can keep learning, improving and fix things. I think it's clear what our best defence is now, we have two central midfielders who are an obvious choice, Eagles and Chungy are getting back to form and we lack options up front, so our best team is quite obvious and we should stick with 4-4-2. If we keep things simple and do that, I'm confident we'll start picking up more wins.
There's no need for all this antagonism between fans though. We all want what's best for the club, we just disagree with how that will happen. If people disagree with me, that's fine, and no matter how negative myself and others may be, we'd all like nothing more than to be proven wrong.
