The sort of thing you'd hope the club could stretch to buying really ... or, & I know he's spent a few bob already ... Eddie Davies.

Given the wages earned by modern players the generation of Jussi, Kevin Nolan etc., etc should have a shout too.

But Zulu, it became available on your birthday. 'tis a sign, shirley.

Was going to mention something about this a while ago..

They advised Phil that they were selling the lot and asked for a certain price. The club asked them to consider selling them to the National Football Museum, but they wouldn't what they (the Lofty's) wanted for it.

There's no way the club would buy them as they wouldn't want to give them a penny. Some bad blood there.

Well I fancy the '58 Winners Medal, but there's no way I've got a spare £12,000.

Blimey, how sad is that ?

Maybe the Warby's .... or even an ex-club mate of the big man, the vastly overpaid Gordon Taylor, if not the PFA.

Fair enough if they want to sell them, they'll go somewhere they'll be valued and they've got no-one to pass them on to. Doesn't diminish his legacy at all, may even enhance it if they go somewhere on display.
Why bad blood with the club boris?

How about passing them on to the general public by selling them to the National Football Museum? They might not have made as much but it's the only way to ensure that they'll go 'somewhere that they'll be valued'.

Sounds like a good plan to me.

My concern is that this collection will be split up, never to be seen again in its entirety. It's a big chunk of the history of our club being scattered all over the place.

I'm concerned that individuals would be willing to sell them for some cash and eliminate the only physical memories of their legendary fathers/grandfathers footballing legacy.

I may be misreading this but I'm getting the impression that the Lofthouse family aren't/weren't a particularly close bunch. Do we know?

They haven't been close to the powers at the club since Nat's passing, that's for sure. Don't know much about their personal circumstances though

The strangest surely feeling comes with them selling stuff like his OBE and his watch he got for his 70th... but no future generations of Lofthouses I guess.

It would be nice if some of these did end up on display in the National Football Museum or BWFC, either by purchase or loan.

1958 F.A. Cup final ball went for over £4,000 apparently.
