I make mistakes in the conventional notation. This way it's obvious to me what I'm moving is the same as what I'm telling kinty I'm moving, and vice versa when he moves I know exactly where it is he's moved from to.

Anyway, we're up to this point, Athers...

i often get games to this kind of position - then get bored and bow to the impulse to capture summat - just to get the action started!! I don't have the patience for real chess!! :-)

Capturing something is good, if you're gaining an advantage by doing so.
Capturing for the sake of capturing something just leads to faster and more sterile end games.
For Real chess, you need to play it in a courtyard with a sloping roof on one side, or am I mixing that up with tennis :?

It's only an exchange, you're still well in it. And tbf i think if you'd have moved the queen earlier it'd be favouring you. just one of those things.

Lines? I don't do lines.
I've obviously heard of the names of some openings, Ruy Lopez, for example, but I wouldn't know it if it hit me between the eyes. I just move the pieces according to where I want them and if they end up in some unorthodox move then the more the merrier. :D
Nonetheless, your random moves eventually led to the fianchetto of your King's bishop - the opening would be known as "King's Indian in reverse" or "King's Indian attack". Pity you didn't spot the Queen pinned against the rook - will be hard work now but never give up.
