If I remember my RC religious classes they are even worse than Protestants aren't they ??
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Not quite sure I'd agree with that. He led Roman soldiers and they, while mostly not Roman, were largely Christians. The Ostrogoths were at the time led by Theodric the Great who later became King of Italy and was a Christian. I doubt there were too many Vandals and Huns in the Roman army - they were all supporting Manchester United.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:He, Odoacer, might have been a Christian, but believe me, his hordes - Ostrogoths, Visigoths, Alans, Vandals, Franks, Burgundians, Scythians, Huns, Lombards and other associated wronguns, were, to a man, heathens...

Re: Today I'm neither Angry nor Happy about....
It never rains but it pours! My 3 month pregnant daughter fell down stairs from top to bottom at 4am this morning and crashed into the child gate at the bottom knocking herself unconscious. She is in a lot of pain but nothing broken and she is happy baby is okay. On Tuesday Mrs Clapton Mk1 (who I am still on good terms with) went into some kind of anaphylactic shock. Her face, head, neck and throat swelled alarmingly and she almost choked to death until she got med's at hospital. This morning her body reacted against the meds and she woke up almost entirely paralysed but managed to ring daughter for help. I advised calling an ambulance when daughter phoned me in a panic but ex couldn't get downstairs to open the door to the crew who then had to break in the house. Unfortunately though in trying to get to the door she too has fallen down stairs from top to bottom and is now in a lot of pain in Bolton A&E.

Jesus CiG that's awful. Get thee to a bungalow. (Glad to hear daughter and baby are okay and hope that the ex isn't in too much pain)

Hope everyone is ok today Clappers.
The official site have just asked for volunteers to do the half time challenge at the next home game. I have no credibility and nothing to lose except my dignity. Should I or shouldn't I?

Only if it's the one where you have to catch the footballs. I'll put a request in for them to water the centre circle especially for you.Bijou Bob wrote:Hope everyone is ok today Clappers.

What is the half-time challenge? I know that Worthy's is to sink three in succession but I'm guessing that that's not it?!

It's not far short - when they had to catch the three footballs to win a case of Carling.

Re: Today I'm neither Angry nor Happy about....
Gorgeous bright day out but blooming freezing in our house today. Have whacked the heating on, put on a hoody and am sitting shivering in bed under the duvet with the electric blanket on and dog next to me in attempt to warm up. Was wondering what on earth was going on til I realised Mr GG had left the window open. In November.

Re: Today I'm neither Angry nor Happy about....
Christmas - you know, that thing that occurs on the 25th December...It's been building in our house all week. Manchester Markets kicked off last night, we attended a kids "christmas concert" today (from School), mince pies appeared midweek (and disappeared shortly afterwards) and bottles of mulled wine turned up about 30 minutes ago. In the face of all that and a missus who had a face like a 6 year old, that made an appearance on Santa's naughty list, I caved in partially and said the bloody tree could go up in the conservatory - but not the outward facing rooms that the neighbours might see.
I could be bored with it by the beginning of December.
