I wish I could still get moved to anger by sport.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:I remember it well: October 93. Was just settling into second-year student digs. I was listening on the stereogram upstairs and we were in control, 3-0 up, so I njpped down to make my tea - beans on toast, I recall (even though I can't remember what I had for dinner last Friday). Settled down in front of Final Score and there it was: 4-3. It's the only time I've ever thrown a knife in anger; that said, there was nobody else around and I had the self-control to lob it into the washing-up bowl, where it caused a hole that necessitated replacement. Bastard Watford.
I follow so many guff sides/teams on the slide that I can't get moved to anything more than that cold numbness of inevitable disgust.
But we're doing well lately. So against better judgement The Seer predicts a loss this week.
Sorry

I guarantee we won't lose this week.
100% I guarantee it, an internet fiver's worth.

Went to that game. Ran out of petrol on the M6 on the way home. A nice way to finish a great day out.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Yep, just discussing that at work today: thanks to a last-minute overhead kick this weekend, St Etienne haven't won a home Derby du Rhone against Lyon in 20 years.jaffka wrote:Amazing how some teams have the hoodoo on others.Worthy4England wrote:A bit more than "seems to be"jaffka wrote:Watford seems to be one of those places where we come away with nothing, one of our bogey teams.

Cautiously, I'll predict an against all odds win. Narow, maybe, but a win anyway.

My only trip to Watford was many moons ago in a League Cup tie. Bournemouth game aside, it was the only time I ever saw Paul Comstive do anything of any note. A late equalizer that sent us through on aggregate.
I'd be happy with another draw next week

This was where I saw my first away win, on about the 26th attempt.

That's actually a very good call LLS, went to the Palace game last season and that was a good game but ended 0 - 0 no good reason as to why this game wont be similar iMOLost Leopard Spot wrote:I foresee a thrilling nil nil.
The above post is complete bollox/garbage/nonsense, please point this out to me at any and every occasion possible.

There's every reason Dan. What has Palace got to do with us playing Watford, got to do with this game? What's last season got to do with anything?bwfcdan94 wrote:That's actually a very good call LLS, went to the Palace game last season and that was a good game but ended 0 - 0 no good reason as to why this game wont be similar iMOLost Leopard Spot wrote:I foresee a thrilling nil nil.

His late miss against Tranmere at Wembley was notable as well, for all the wrong reasons.

I remember that '93 result well too. i was lying on my mum and dad's sofa dying of teenage man flu. At 3-0 I felt well again. After a series of sickening GMR updates, I felt decidely unwell again.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

I was painting window frames outside, ogling the 30'odd year old gardening opposite from me, was aware it was 3-0 and believing all was well with the World as I turned the radio on for the final scores. I blame James Alexander Gordon to be honest.
Moments like that are only available to fans of certain clubs. Others simply wouldn't understand.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
