Yuck. Just yuck like I have a hairball in my lower throat.
I don't think I'd ever tire of punching Grimshaw in the face.
Yes I thought that after Cvnt Moyles had left I might listen to Radio1 again. But no.

Any Private Eye readers on here? They are currently running a story (See Issues 1352 and 1353) about a Panorama documentary which has yet to be broadcast. According to Private Eye the documentary investigates the finances of Comic Relief, Save the Children and others. Apparently the documentary broadcast date has been put back six times by BBC chiefs!

It should be an interesting watch if it ever sees the light of day.

I cancelled my charity S/O when I found out how much the CEO was on.

Look where the main offices of the Salvation Army and Cancer Research are .... CR is on Lincoln's Inn and Sally is by the Millennium footbridge as it leads to St. Pauls. I have checked ... neither are conditionally gifted to them. You can't imagine the cost of running that real estate.

Good causes. VERY good causes, but you have to wonder whether their spending is best directed that way. A central London office is fine, but not on the physical scale these places are.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Calmed down now, but not impressed at all last night. The RSPCA doing door to door DD sign ups at 7.30pm on a Saturday night. They were told!

Wrong approach Dan. I just say: "Good morning/day brothers and sisters, I was just in the middle of praying to head office. Yes, I'd love a leaflet thank you. Have a nice day" Thirty seconds max and botherd no more.

Mormons are the spawn of the devil...but Jehovah'sses! What I truly don't understand about Jehovah'sses is that they believe 10,000 (and 10,000 only) will have a place in Heaven seated with God after the Apocalypse has played out. And as there's more than ten thousand of them already... WHAT'RE YA DOING GOING OUT AND TRYING TO RECRUIT MORE???????
That's not a leopard!

Why anyone needs £650k to provide water is utterly beyond me.

Regrettably unsurprised.

Also, coz of the game I'm in, I'm aware that the senior management of these 'not-for profit' businesses (and they ARE businesses) are on £90-120k pa, the board members way above that ... and GET BONUS' !).

Is it me ???

I had cause to use the charities commission website when doing a public sector audit(never again, please!) recently, and it's really quite good at showing the money raised and how it is spent, e.g what proportion is on 'admin' costs etc

If you want educated proven and capable people in charge, in order to come up with new and inventive ways of maximising the charity's income, you have to pay them accordingly I'm afraid.

Catch 22 and a difficult moral dilemma. But these people aren't exactly going to give 15 hours + a day up of their lives for nothing.

I'm just unconvinced that the money is well spent. Massive offices in central London coupled with large corporate Executive salaries seems out of keeping with what it is they're attempting to achieve. They don't have to compete with, or ape, business, because they aren't businesses.

In fact I'd generally agree, but in many cases it seems to be part of the whole ethos of the charities and quite different than the expectations of the donors.
