daughter has always had long hair... but now she's decided (out of the blue) that she wants short hair... so has toddled off to the barbers to have it all cut off... I have NO IDEA how on earth that will look... bye bye long-haired daughter! :(

My niece recently wanted to cut off all her hair for a part in a play where she was expected to look tomboy-ish. She didn't get the part. She went ahead with the cut though!

The style was like Julia Robert's in Hook when she played Tinkerbell.

quite proud of myself - I think it might be a sign that I am growing up...

I have managed to organise myself for the first time ever to actually plant bulbs for the spring... I have planted about a million assorted daffs/tulips/grape hyacinths/lillies/hyacinths and other stuff I can't remember.. I've even gone as far as to plant some in pots - some of them in groups on multiple levels!! I have also planted out several thousand wallflowers and done out a little bed at the front with winter pansies and hardy cyclamens in for some winter colour...

planting bulbs is a delayed gratification thing - which is why i reckon it's grown-up! 8)

I planted a load of bulbs a couple of years ago. The bloody squirrel dug every one up and had a bite of of each of them. I wouldn't have minded much if the squirrel was hungry and ate all of the bulb but just enough to kill them and then left the rest.

Squirrels are real arse holes.

I'm glad to see that my little plot is not alone. Here it's possums. The mongrel things take one bite out of each fruit they can get to on our lemon, orange and grapefruit trees.

Just over-flowed the bath (again) having got distracted chatting on fb. Was rather hoping Mr GG might not notice, but unfortunately he spotted water coming through the kitchen ceiling underneath... Think its fair to say he will be keeping an annoyingly patronising close eye on my bath running activity now til at least 2020. :(

well... s'not the first time you've done that... I can remember having to dismantle your kitchen light fitting once to dry it out...

I reckon mr GG should fit a pair of taps that shut off every 20 seconds! (or rather - get someone in to fit them!)

Don't you have one of those holes that take the overflow and deposit it down the plughole? Obviously not, but I thought all baths/sinks had them.

Yes, it's a bit of a give away that cascade of water pouring through your kitchen ceiling !!

Awful of him to patronise her after only the second occasion though.

Wife had The Wright Show on this morning. One of the topics was "Should parents get paid for helping kids with homework? "

Be interesting to hear a few views: Personally, I don't think there should be any homework. Kids see it as a nuisance and if parents are doing it, what are the kids learning? Grown ups ar already getting paid for educating kids; they're called teachers. I reckon they should scrap it and make the school day an hour longer. Teachers wouldn't have to give up their evenings or weekends marking the stuff and a weekly test would soon indicate who was learning what.

Views?

Why were they asking whether parents should get paid? Is it's something that is being proposed? Surely helping your kids is a pretty standard parenting job, are people not aware of this when they have children?

there is plenty of point helping your kids do their homework - that's exactly how it should be - that's how learning happens if you talk about something and work on it together. there is no point parents DOING homework instead of their kids - but every point helping them do it.

Don't think kids should have homework, personally.

I help my lad with his, but don't do it and wouldn't expect to get paid for it.
