Re: Checkmate...
Tomorrow should be good. I'm down to three matches now (apart from the annoying Pole) - Dan should be over soon and so should kinty's, so only Prufrock which could take longer - kind of a wide open affair.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:Anyway Monty... about time for a rematch I think. Re: Checkmate...
ok. As for the Pole, don't you have an abort button ( on the bottom right )

Re: Checkmate...
I tried to abort kinty but the option wasn't available.
So I resigned.

Re: Checkmate...
Business end of a thriller vs Kinty. I'm worried naturally cos I seem to be slightly ahead of him in pieces. He's got my King in a corner though.

He has three pawns for that piece - technically level pegging but you'll never have a better chance. Go for it.Jakerbeef wrote:Business end of a thriller vs Kinty. I'm worried naturally cos I seem to be slightly ahead of him in pieces. He's got my King in a corner though.

Re: Checkmate...
I've made a questionable sacrifice with a Rook, but I had to take that pawn out of the game...

Anand gets a good position then commits a horrific blunder to hand Carlsen the win. The Norwegian needs just half a point from three games to become World Champion.

I'm in a tense battle with Spotty. As black he is up a pawn and attacking the centre. He is trying to hold on to the pawn. Did he attack too soon? Who knows?

Re: Checkmate...
Well, so far I've beaten Spotty (who had a resignitis relapse) and Jakerbeef (he was dominating as white position-wise, and up in material, but fell into a trap with the queen on a long diagonal trapping his king). In my other game with Jaker, where I'm white, he's in the midst of massacaring me with his horsies, and will surely win. Also in a tight game with Spotty, and a very odd one with Dan who has gone on an all out suicide mission down his right as black. I don't really know what to do!
Monty is a different kettle of fish. Thought I kept it pretty tight, being only a pawn down for most of it, but he just does not make mistakes! Wouldn't fall into any traps, the bastard! I thought I played pretty well, and kept it even until near the end where he managed to get to the point where he either going to re-queen up, or go two rooks and three pawns v three pawns, so I fell on my sword. Was engaging and frustrating in equal measure!

Re: Checkmate...
You just don't pick me on the right day! In the current game against Spotty I have just committed a stupidity and in the last game against kinty a blunder of monumental proportions, which put me a piece down (I resigned rather than go on for another forty depressing moves until I was slaughtered).Prufrock wrote:Well, so far I've beaten Spotty (who had a resignitis relapse) and Jakerbeef (he was dominating as white position-wise, and up in material, but fell into a trap with the queen on a long diagonal trapping his king). Re: Checkmate...
Jakerbeef was feeling sorry for me so gave me his queen.
The above post is complete bollox/garbage/nonsense, please point this out to me at any and every occasion possible.
