Well said Sir, although the Hunger Games person reckons they never heard of Battle Royalea1 wrote:watch battle royale insteadthebish wrote:on sunday afternoon, it seems, am taking daughter to see the Hunger Games 2 - just when you thought it was safe to be poor - or summat

My dog (proper 57) had his anal glands emptied once and yes the smell is something to behold!!

G4S should use that film as a training video. Would provide results to justify the high price of their tagging!Raven wrote:Well said Sir, although the Hunger Games person reckons they never heard of Battle Royalea1 wrote:watch battle royale insteadthebish wrote:on sunday afternoon, it seems, am taking daughter to see the Hunger Games 2 - just when you thought it was safe to be poor - or summat

Although that's shite from scene 1 to scene fin.
I'm not asking you to 'think outside the box' I just wish you'd have a rummage around in it once in a while.

It's so bad. They even try and make it a continuation of the first 2 films, except with none of the same actors.coffeymagic wrote:And the four part Home Alone trilogy.Gary the Enfield wrote:Prufrock wrote:All the best trilogies come in four parts.

Just looked it up, and there is even a Home Alone 5 now! At least with this one they did what Home Alone 3 did and had a different family.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Along with Willy Wonka (yes the original with Gene Wilder in it that one) Home Alone has to be one of the most mis-represented filums in the history of cinema.
Far from being a happy, fun, laugh-a-minute story of redemption and reconciliation it's oozes greed, disrespect, selfishness and every other hateful emotion you can think of.
The parents are dwads, he's a wee shit who wants burning, his family are are awful and the whole thing where they make up at the end is rendered meaningless because the very next Christmas they're at it again.
There's something about the mum though that even through her cold mean swinging brick of a heart I wouldn't mind...y'know....thawing out.
Thomas the Tank Engine* Franchise is also far from being a happy tale of loveable island trains.
Every single one of them is a spiteful representation of the human condition. You can tell a vicar wrote 'em.
Peep! Peep! said Thomas, 'Oi, cut that out' said the Fat Controller 'You going to the scrap yard today. Dr Beeching's said you're nothing but scum.'
*His name is Thomas the Tank ENGINE. NOT THOMAS THE TANK. He is not a vessel for heating or storing liquid nor is he an armour plated vehicle used in land warfare.
Hate him by all means but please don't call him Thomas the Tank.
What time's kick off tonight?

Re: What are you watching tonight?
I am merely venting my spleen as a dad who has had many an occasion to have to sit through Home Alone's i-iv (the thought of a v makes my blood run cold), Willy Wobbler's Chocolate Factory, Snow White, The Fox and the Hound and all manner of cobblers.
It's good to let it all out isn't it?
I will say the only thing the kids watch that I am prepared to enjoy is The Spongebob Movie which could be THE greatest film ever made.
I thought you were my friends. *sniff*

What's with the railway terminological references? I've signally failed to understand. Is it a platform for someone's ego? At this junction it's hard to tell...thebish wrote:i've been keeping track of this thread - I think he makes a very interesting set of points...Gary the Enfield wrote:General Mannerheim wrote:i just wish i was capable of posts like that. tremendous!

British Comedy Award nominations announced this morning:

Better skip over Best Sitcom and Best New Comedy Show awards..... oh, and Best Comedy Breakthrough Artist too. Wouldn't want any apoplexy cases. A&E are busy enough.
And yes, I know they are only nominations. And yes, it reflects the paucity of British comedy blah blah blah.

The guy clearly has his supporters. His radio programme had a mysteriously long (10 year ??) run before some bright spark decided it deserved transferring to telly. Then, after ONE show the powers that be announced it was to get a second series.
He either has talent, inordinate quantities of luck or photo's of the DG's daughter doing unspeakable things with a llama.
I'm going for the llama theory myself !!

Still, we have Alan Carr to fall back on,

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Jack Whitehall is telly's Dougie Freedman.
He's read a book somewhere about How to Succeed in.... and to be fair to him he's followed the instructions to a T.
Like David Blaine is a magician who doesn't do tricks Whitehall is a comedian who doesn't do funny.
He does long winded 'clever' rambles but ultimately he's a bell.
TV seems to love him though.
I cannot stand Jo Brand (for me she's THE comedian Krusty the Clown was talking about when he did his rant on female comics) but Getting On is probably the best thing to hit our screens in years.
Oooohhh Pippa!

I can only add the immortal phrase "F*ck me pink"bobo the clown wrote:Bless, Clappers.clapton is god wrote:British Comedy Award nominations announced this morning:

Still, we have Alan Carr to fall back on,
No: I can add more: with Miranda in there, and Alan Feckin' Carr too... "Triple f*ck me pink" *throws himself to the office floor in the new inane style of bodily comedy that is suddenly all the rage, twitching in a manic comedic spasm of angst*

That's not a leopard!

Re: What are you watching tonight?
On the subject of award shows aren't they a disgrace?
How did watching people pat themselves on the back become classed as entertainment?
Never funny, always cringeworthy and a lesson is self absorbtion watching this and similar shows like the Soap Awards (surely the biggest televisual piss take ever) it's easy to understand why the terrorists hate us.
