Professionals' diet
Just seen Jay Spearing post an Instagram picture (I know) of a shitload of ice cream for his dessert (afters) in Byron Burger. A quick look finds other pictures of his diet includes loads of chips, onion rings, Domino's pizza, Haribo, more ice cream and a fridge full of vimto.
I know that it's probably not that big a deal for someone who trains every day, and maybe he has boring white meat meals a lot of the time, but I just can't imagine Thierry Henry tucking into such things.
Perhaps it's just the thought that if I was a pro I'd do everything I could to find that extra 1%, especially if I wasn't playing that well right now. He's been a pro his whole life though and failed in his main career aspiration, so I can understand him enjoying his tea now & then...

If it's good enough for Usain Bolt...

Re: Professionals' diet
Lad got done. Should have gone to Almost Famous.
When I was running a lot, I was eating more healthier than I'm currently doing. If anything, training as he does, I would have thought he'd be more inclined to eat healthy rather than junk. In any case it shows a lack of professionalism in my view and perhaps the little difference between the top flight players and a jobbing Championship player.

By 'dining' at Almost Famous you are supporting dickheadery of the highest degree.

Wouldn't our player's diet fall under the remit of improvements behind the scenes?

Who cares. Their "Triple Nom" is to die for. Price to pay to deal with the hipsters.Dr Hotdog wrote:By 'dining' at Almost Famous you are supporting dickheadery of the highest degree.

I forgot to add initially why do players/celebrities/regular folk have to upload everything they do to the internet? Its beyond me why I'd want my "followers" to know what I had for my tea. In Spearing's case this seems kind of stupid, I can't imagine the club nutritionist would be happy with his alleged meal choices.

Shouldn't need to worry about diet given the quality of our medical team.CrazyHorse wrote:Wouldn't our player's diet fall under the remit of improvements behind the scenes?

I care, that's why I said it. It goes deeper than a few hipsters with swept hair, specs, a prickish attitude and too-short trousers. Their "Triple Nom" is built on sexist bullshit. Smother it in "Slut Sauce" and wash it down with some "Bitch Juice" and stay clean, Dr.Dr.Karl wrote:Who cares. Their "Triple Nom" is to die for. Re: Professionals' diet
Maybe he posts these things because they are a rare treat and his daily diet is boring?

We always trained on fish and chips and a couple of pints before a Saturday match.

Meat and tater pies or pasties, or both, and a packet of Woodbines went in the bag.TANGODANCER wrote:We always trained on fish and chips and a couple of pints before a Saturday match.

I know he's a different type of athlete but look up Michael Phelps 12,000 calories a day diet, you'd be surprised by some of the foods that are included.
Re: Professionals' diet

Re: Professionals' diet
To varying degrees, there's no real scientific consensus that a clean diet is any better for an athlete's performance than a normal diet. Some of the world's fittest people eat junk food before competitions. Usain Bolt is one of many. For Crossfitters there's also Rich Froning who eats pizza pretty much constantly thoughout competition weeks.
I personally think that it's a case of each to their own. Everybody's body isn't the same. Some can metabolise food much faster than others; though obviously it's a gamble you take in professional sport.

What I don't understand is when did Instagram become a social tool? I've had an Instagram app as long as I've had an iphone and used often it to edit and create nice pictures for my own consumption - then all of a sudden people started following, liking and commenting on them??

Fwiw, I'd eat absolutely everything and anything I wanted if I did as much exercise as they do!

I know it's not related that much but I didn't wanna start an all new thread for it... check his new Samsung advert out. How the f**k has Chungy made it into this -
