Thanks Raven. The Mrs agrees about finding somewhere for them all. She didn't mention galleries mind.Raven wrote:I really like the style you have and the energy to produce so many, you better find a gallery soon

Spotski. Ran out of watercolour paper and so did The Works. Wife found out that W.H.Smiths stock some reasonably decent stuff. Got a 16 x 12 pad of 12 sheets reduced to £6.50 from £8. Slightly creamier in colour than The Works pads, but pretty good.

I've stocked up on Arches. It is apparently pronounced 'arse', that's the French for you. And although I've got a padful of paper I've still only completed two paintings... just don't have enough time at the moment, too many things going on at once.TANGODANCER wrote:Spotski. go on Tango - crack a smile for once... the first photo certainly looks like he's having a nosebleed!

Yellow snow! In Canada we are taught to avoid it!

It isn't actually yellow Monty. The whole painting is much lighter, greyer in colour, but flash tends to darken everything due to the layers of colour. I'll try taking it without flash in the daylight tomorrow. It's much more like this in reality.Montreal Wanderer wrote:Yellow snow! In Canada we are taught to avoid it!See Zappa's Apostrophe

Doesn't look much like a 'realistic' pic of Farny to me. Where's the chip-pan fire, the phalanx of heavily tattooed drunkards, the stolen supermarket trolleys and the pairs of trainers hanging off of the telegraph wires?TANGODANCER wrote:Nice bright morning so I managed to take a realistic pic outside. Re: The Painting Thread... (as opposed to art debate)
Spots, there's a two hour watercolour painting lesson on the internet on techniques etc, followed by painting a seascape. I followed it and had a go. (The pic's only laid on the frame for a trial). I changed some colours around and a few other things but it hasn't come out too bad. The lesson's worth taking if you have a couple of hours to spare. If you want the link, it's.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8uCGg5u_zDM" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Cheers Tango.
If I'd have been you, I'd have been tempted to put a hole through those rocks to bring pencilbiter out of art critic retirement.

Spots. Tried a simple impression painting with one brush and a piece of sponge. Need practise but it isn't bad for a first go.

We must do it again some time.

Tango - out of interest, what do you mean when you say it is a "simple impression painting"?

Re: The Painting Thread... (as opposed to art debate)
Would have thought it self explanatory. Impressionism is just that, and it isnt a complicated work, therefore "simple", ie an uncomplicated attempt at impressionist painting. ?thebish wrote:Tango - out of interest, what do you mean when you say it is a "simple impression painting"?

I like it - it looks a bit like Chinese ink painting in the style of the strokes.TANGODANCER wrote:Spots. Tried a simple impression painting with one brush and a piece of sponge. Need practise but it isn't bad for a first go.

Mummy. The actual painting is 16" x 12". Here's a close up of the red bridge. Didn't want to paint too much detail as it would spoil the impressionist content.
