Re: What are you watching tonight?
Mark Kermode questioned this. Well, what he actually said was that they've taken a fairly short book and made three needlessly long films out of it.LeverEnd wrote: It really does put me off watching any of them. The last 30 mins of Return of the King was interminably boring. I imagine long sections of these Hobbit films being the same.
I saw the first one because I was in transit at the time - I can't foresee many other sets of circumstances by which I'll find myself watching the others.

according to the missus we are watching part three of "Death comes to Pemberley" despite the fact that nothing happened in the first two parts (at least - not while I was awake!)

The wife's currently watching that. I read P.D.James's book and quoted on here somewhere that it was a book that didn't need writing. I sat through fifteen minutes of part one and gave up. Just another case of band-waggon jumping on Pride and Prejudice.thebish wrote:according to the missus we are watching part three of "Death comes to Pemberley" despite the fact that nothing happened in the first two parts (at least - not while I was awake!)

Finally got round to watching Precious. I've put off watching it due to everyone I know that's seen it advising me that I apparently need to be in the right frame of mind to watch it. You simply can't be. If you've a solitary iota of humility within you then it'll break your heart. I even had to wipe my eyes and put my glasses on when the pizza guy turned up in a desperate disguise. An excellent tale, billiantly well acted, and though it does ultimately lift you, for the most of it it'll break your heart. OK, it broke mine.

Me too. Will watch owt with Guy Martin in, although I can't help think he lays it on a bit thick for the cameras these days?
Re: What are you watching tonight?
Thought I remembered someone posting about those films. Just watched the first 2, was a bit worried with them being Linklater films described as 'not much happens' having not enjoyed Slackers at all. Think I'd better give it a second chance now though.General Mannerheim wrote:I've watched the Before Sunrise / Sunset / Midnight trilogy over the weekend. Most excellent
Also finished Hunger Games, liked it tbf.

Just tried Coud Atlas. Gave it my best shot and lasted about 45 minutes. It's deleted now.
