In an effort to counteract the forthcoming overindulgence I aim to do a couple of runs over the next few says. First up is Rivington Pike. I did this yesterday in the pitch dark and forgot to take my headtorch which slowed my ascent from the boarding kennels to the top of the pike and back down. I aim to repeat the run tomorrow at 07:00 (with torch). If anyone fancies joining me, meet me at the junction of Crown Lane and Winter Hey Lane.

I am also aiming to do the Park Run on Saturday the 28th. Be great to see you there both new and old
P.M. me if you fancy either run.
Ordinarily I'd be well up for that, but having not run for 3 months I'd better not. Will probably be at the parkrun with my sister though so I'll look out for you.
All the best.

Park runs a week or two off for me at the mo. Enjoy G. Impressed to see you taking advantage of the Pike on your few days up here :oyea:

This mornings run was a bit odd. Icy paths and freezing dog. You know you're alive when you get to the top though. What a rush!

Looked like you were running strongly, few cobwebs blown away. I was bloody freezing, wished I was running if only for that. Going to be boring and just do gentle treadmill jogs and core work in the gym for a couple of weeks.

Nice one G. I promised myself that if I woke up in time, I'd pop along and have a bash. Only opened my eyes at 8.30 though so wont be burning off all these snacks just yet  . Might do a stint up Winter Hill tomorrow though. Mrs G got some new fell shoes that she's desperate to try out.

Purposely left my car three miles away yesterday so that I'd have to walk it over to collect it this morning. Got thinking - it wasn't that long ago that I could have ran this. Really do need to bite the bullet and start again. But then New Year's full of good intentions.

Suspect it will be a New Years resolution for most of us Bruce. How about we all aim to be doing it for when Enfield's back up here? Wont feel guilty about the big breakfast afterwards then  :D

Sounds good - but it means banning Enfield from coming home until April. :D

Just managed 8 miles over winter hill. Furthest and toughest run I've done in months but thankfully no Achilles problem. Still managed to go full length coming down from Two Lads in front of a group of ramblers

Now about to weld myself to the settee, watch the football and eat my bodyweight in Pringles :oyea:

Nice one. No running today. Just had a meal at Rivington for my dad's birthday.
Got a 10 miler on Tuesday. Last run of the year.

Bit of an occasion at Bolton parkrun this morning as 83 year Malcolm Pittock ran his 100th. It takes him an hour now after running 37 mins while already in his 80s, he wears a helmet for protection as he's so unsteady on his feet, but he got there and congratulations to him.

Brilliant. Absolute respect. The thing is though, I've driven past him running home post Parkrun in the past.

So anyone got any running/sport related goals they want to achieve this year?

Aside from starting to eat a healthy diet mine are:

Learn to pole vault (this has been a goal for many years but never seem to find the time to get to the track where I can do the proper training for it)

Flatten my stomach - need to look into what exercises are good to do at home.

Exercise more frequently - whether that's running or football.

Learn to tumble - my colleague wants to learn too, so if we ever have a spare free lesson at work we will go to the sports hall, lug the mats out (well, he will) and help each other practice. My gymnastics ability stops at round off's and one handed cartwheels so far, I can only do back summys if on a trampoline.
