Just before Christmas I read an article (cannot remember where) about a scientist requesting further data from dog owners, after he'd accidentally discovered a correlation between dogs pooing and their orientation facing either north or south and therefore seemingly pooing on a line with the Earth's magnetic field (but 60% of his data came from one dog: Nietz, a border collie). I was sceptical to say the least.
Then just after Xmas I downloaded an app (Star Map) which allows me to point my phone and see geomagnetic north/south among other things. So I've tracked my dog's poos and she's shat five times since (under the criteria) and every time has faced directly South. I don't mean a bit south, but exactly geomagnetic south. I'm gobsmacked.

The criteria, by the way are off lead, with no other dogs or humans close by, and owner standing at least 2 Meters from the dog when pooing.

Seven shits out of seven, now. And all directly facing south. Check your dog out!

If you leave it long enough they may start to show a pattern or image as viewed from above. Poop circles, a new phenomenon.

This morning I took the dog out. He had a poo so I checked to see if he was a compass dog....and he was facing...south.

I took him out this afternoon. He did it again. He was facing.................................................north...?

He clearly wasn't in a calm magnetic environment....

Then
................. North in the afternoon

Directly geomsgnetic north or geomagnetic south are equally valid. The 'theory' is that the dog aligns along the earth's magnetic field. Anti-theory results are anything that deviates from the north-south axis.
Although I was a complete sceptic, I'm beginning to believe...

As mentioned elsewhere   ...... Steve Marriott, guitar and vocal God via the Small Faces and Humble Pie, played both Oliver and The Artful Dodger in Lionel Bart's original 1960 stage production of "Oliver".

It's his voice you will think of when you here the Artful Dodger tunes "Consider Yourself" and "I'd Do Anything".

Your welcome.

Did his cottage burn down with him in it, or have I mixed him up? Either way, what was your part in it, Boyo?

It did.

He'd spit (again) from his then girlfriend due to his drinking. It's believed he went to bed pissed and was smoking and fell asleep.

It was a thatched b&w place in rural Essex.

Inspired by a Pencilbiter reference - if you put Bongo Bongo land into Google Maps it takes you to Godfrey Bloom's house. Try it. :)

Robert the Bruce came up in Only Connect. The name Bruce is thought to be Scottish (or common in Australian university Philosophy departments  ). It is a little known fact that King Robert's family were not Scottish, but principally Norman. His ancestor had come over with William the Conqueror and the family name was up to and including his father 'de Brus' or 'de Bruis' from the area they originally hailed from (Bruis castle, Normandy). It was changed to 'the Bruce' so his new subjects could pronounce it.
"If you cannot answer a man's argument, all it not lost; you can still call him vile names. " Elbert Hubbard.
