Re: Bolton Furies?
I have a theory about that - you see, I don't think we did. The 'salmon pink' shirt with black shorts and socks was after the club had fallen out with the Rev. Wright in 1877 and Christ Church FC had become Bolton Wanderers. Before then the strip was a red shirt with black shorts and socks, and was in the era before aniline dyes had become widespread. Red is a notoriously difficult colour to fix, and in those days would have faded fast - so I think they were using the old kit which had faded in straightened circumstances when trying to find a new home etc. So we didn't play in pink, we played in faded red.bwfcdan94 wrote:We also played in pink once, I really need to get that shirt!thebish wrote:meh... we've played in red before... the crowd would still sing "we are the one and only wanderers" (look what happened at Newcastle when the bloke tried to change the stadium name..)
we might have a new official name - but i don't see how an owner could decide what people call us as a nickname - Red Dawn would never catch on - we'd still be the trotters or the wanderers despite what a new owner wanted... you can;'t choose your own nickname...
my support has survived moving many miles away from the town and the club upping sticks and buggering off to Horwich and changing the name of the stadium to a sports clothing company - so it would easily survive this - especially if it were in preference to going out of business altogether...
bring it on moneybags!

indeed - so - red is our earliest "history" - why the outrage over this imagined owner getting us to play in red? (not from you LLS - I don't want you to worry!)

Pretty sure that you know some of it is tongue in cheek as to the reason why. See if you can work it out for yourself.thebish wrote:indeed - so - red is our earliest "history" - why the outrage over this imagined owner getting us to play in red? (not from you LLS - I don't want you to worry!)

If this imaginary mysterious buyer came in, they would sack this clueless, idiot, Walter Mitty Chancer immediately. So maybe I am in!
