Name some names then.
Dougie's blabbing on about how some players aren't good enough for the club and that the nucleus of the side isn't up to scratch.
Is he talking mentally, physically, ability, motivationally or what? What are the criteria for a player who is and isn't good enough for Dougie?
Just like Coyle he's signing players not to play them, just like Coyle he's swapping teams around like billy-o and just like Coyle he's blaming the last guy and just like Coyle we're in a rudderless free-fall.
If Vela, Davies, Riley and the rest can't get past the sower that trotted out on Saturday then there's no hope for them.
When I've seen them (I've seen more footage of the fecking Yeti than I have of Craig Davies) I think the above have looked good. Vela certainly always seems to want the ball but Dougie doesn't seem that keen.
I know the above have had a few injuries but you just get the feeling that there's a world away from the 'development squad' and the first team.
If the players above aren't good enough for the Championship they certainly won't be good enough for the Promised Land. They may well be perfect for League One.

I'm not asking you to 'think outside the box' I just wish you'd have a rummage around in it once in a while.

Re: Name some names then.
Apparently Craig Davies isn't fit enough to play. If this is the case why are we not hearing reports about him being fined for not maintaining a fitness level? As an aside I would still play him with a load of fat on him as he'll have more cutting edge than the likes of N'Gog. Remember Michael Ricketts, decent scoring record for a chubby forward, Mario Jardel had a decent record for a lard ass. I'm not saying he's the full solution but I would argue he'd be better at holding the ball up than N'Gog an he can at least hit the target.
As for names. Dawson would be the ideal name on the list but that doesn't look likely.

I disagree that he can hit the target.

Re: Name some names then.
Ricketts wasn't chubby when he gave a shit.
Regardless, he keeps picking these players. There are options in the squad, either that he signed or hasn't played much. Results couldn't really be much worse (and really, they couldn't).
If he has a major issue with players left over from before his arrival, just use his team:
Beckford
Davies
Danns
Spearing
Medo
Moritz
Baptiste
Wheater
White
Tierney
(Ok, A.N.Other keeper, if Lee-Barrett isn't up to it).

Wheater was Coyle, and technically so was Spearing.

Signed a new deal under Dougie. He's his.

Dougie paid money for one of them and gave a new contract to the other. They are Dougie's players.mcflykyle182 wrote:Lord Kangana wrote:Ricketts wasn't chubby when he gave a shit.

Re: Name some names then.
DF does look daft when he complains about the players he inherited then picks them anyway.
He inherited some good players (Mark D, Eagles, CYL) that he should be able to use; some apparently bad players who've improved under him (Mills & Ream, still to my mind our best centre-back partnership until we recruit outside help); and some who just aren't much good.
I can understand why he picked Ngog (a recent scorer) over Craig Davies (whose apparently chronic injury problems lend some credence to non-football rumours). But as ever it flattered to deceive, and I can't help thinking Ngog is a key part of the underachieving 'nucleus'.
The responsibility for making them play falls to the manager.

Ahhhh, I see. Out of interest are there any Megson signings still in the squad? Mavies and Knight spring to mind.

Them two and Chungy, I think. Bogdan signed his first BW contract under Sammy Lee...mcflykyle182 wrote:Ahhhh, I see. Out of interest are there any Megson signings still in the squad? Mavies and Knight spring to mind.

Re: Name some names then.
That's the issue. Each and every one of our managers (probably with the exception of Sammy Lee?) has talked of changing the squad, but then has kept a significant number of inherited players in and around the first team, each and every one of them has offered new contracts to players they've inherited.

Did Megson offer many new deals? I can't remember that many...Lord Kangana wrote:That's the issue. I'd suggest that possibly the reason for subsequently deals being offered is managers were and are unsure whether the money would be there to replace the player. I mean we've not had very many saleable assets so without signing them to new deals we'd have to replace.....

Re: Name some names then.
My recollection was Jussi, Nolan (no? I thought he did before their spat) and Joey O'Brien. Off the top of my head. I'm sure there were probably others.

Re: Name some names then.
Not sure if this has been posted yet. I don't see how calling players "not good enough" will help us improve.
We need better players, says Bolton Wanderers boss Dougie Freedman
DOUGIE Freedman made a desperate plea for new signings after witnessing Wanderers’ worst result in 32 years.
Describing the shocking 7-1 defeat at Reading as “embarrassing” the Scot launched an astonishing attack on some of his players, claiming they were not good enough to compete in the Championship.
Freedman says his hands have been tied since inheriting a collection of highly paid ex-Premier League stars – and insists the result at the Madejski Stadium highlighted the massive deficiencies in his squad.
“The nucleus of this group of players, which has been here for three or four years, needs to change,” he said. “It’s as simple as that.
“Until I get some recruitment in and am able to make some changes, moving forward is a very, very difficult thing to do.”
Reading took an early lead through Adam Le Fondre – who went on to score a hat-trick – but missed a chance to equalise when David Ngog burst clean through on goal.
“We miss the chance of the day and then all of a sudden a handful of players collapse,” he said. “We are very fragile.
“This has lingered around the club for three or four years. “I know it is my job to pick them up and make sure they give honest performances but frankly some of them are not up to playing Championship football and winning games.
“That means I need to get enough recruitment in here to win games of football.”
Asked whether he could move players on wholesale during the current transfer window, a frustrated Freedman claimed the wages earned by some of his players had deterred other clubs from making offers.
“I’ve only got 15 or 16 senior players and I can’t trade them,” he said.
. .
“My phone hasn’t gone once in 15 months for any of them.
“They are not good enough and anyone can see that.
“It’s time for one or two players to step up because these are unacceptable performances.
“As the manager I need to get some more players in.”
Quite what the reaction will be from within the Wanderers dressing room to Freedman’s comments remains to be seen but the manager called his squad in for an extra training session yesterday to address the current problems.
The Glaswegian is adamant that he can still get results out of this group of players and avoid a battle against relegation from the Championship.
“I know exactly what I need to do,” he said.
“I need to get some honesty in there – and sometimes we’ve seen that on a Saturday afternoon and sometimes you don’t.
“When you go into this business you have got to expect the ups and downs of football management. This is a real down. It isn’t something you look forward to but it’s something that happens to a lot of managers and something you have to deal with and make sure it doesn’t happen again.
“I need to make sure there is a reaction to it. “What it tells me is that the football club is in need of recruitment, simple as that. “We need to bring in players that show better than what we have just seen.”

Re: Name some names then.
So ... in summary ^^
he has a squad who are overpaid, and shite. He'd love to move them on but no-one's interested. Despite that he feels he can get more from them, but he wants to recruit some because this lot aren't good enough and drop their heads too easily ... oh, and there's no leaders out there.
... & some wonder if he's "lost the dressing-room" ?
Well, if he hadn't he has now.
