Defo :D The only reason I'll ever be on a football pitch again would be to make Zat Knight look reasonable!

You could probably get a game for the Bolton first team if you put in a few hours training ;)

Had an England netball player in today at work to coach the girls at school.

Firstly - £300 for 2 hours coaching and she did similar drills to the ones we do - I think I need a pay rise...

Secondly - she was *only* 6'1 tall which is apparently short for an international netballer. Told our rugby playing Head of Sport who is a short arse but has legs like tree trunks to stick with the oval ball game, he clearly couldn't cut it in international netball (though its fair to say i might struggle too...)

Tough run today. 5.34 miles of some tough hills both up and down. Ice, mud, grass and chalk escarpment. Proper cross country. 45:43.

Tired and very happy.

Excellent! Sounds tougher than the fell race I did today just off the M6 near to Kendal. 2 lap race with a one long climb on each lap and an icy cold river crossing. Got round in under 30 minutes but mainly pleased to tick another race off 8)

Think it was about 4 miles. This series apparently is all about the climbs. They're getting steeper each week with a couple of real daft ones due in early Feb. Long way to go for a relatively short race but its great to be back competing and hopefully setting things up for a few tougher ones in Spring & Summer

Are you parkrunning Mr HG? Managed a 25 mins jog the other night so going to run parkrun with my sis tomorrow then take my nephew to the cinema, which should be a relaxing aftermath but ...
Good news and bad news for my niece - she got picked to run (promoted from reserve list) for Bolton in the GM Schools Champs but has a groin injury so isn't sure she can do it. It'll be a boost to her confidence to be recognised even if she doesn't run though.

How did you get on this morning LE? No major aches & pains I hope.

Am just about to set off for Leigh. XC today & fell tomorrow - with hopefully a clean bill of health afterwards

Didn't run in the end. My niece wasn't allowed to do it as she can only jog due to injury so I jogged with her and supported.

How was Leigh? Heard it's a road runner's course in dry conditions, maybe not today though?

Leigh was ok. Fifth time I've done it but was over 3 and a half minutes slower than previous attempts. Just a lack of fitness thankfully, which should come back in time hopefully. 3rd lap was torture and was just about hanging in there. It's fast & pretty flat for a XC course so I imagine it would suit good road runners

Good stuff, good luck on the fells, wherever that is I'm sure it will make up for the Leigh flatness. Still never done a fell race.

Sacked off this mornings race for a longer plod around Winter Hill. Was out for about 2 hours with thick mud in several places. Took a good half an hour for the stiffness from yesterdays race to shift but great to be out for so long with no Achilles problems afterwards.

Surprised a runner of your ability hasn't done a fell race LE. You gotta change that when you're back to full fitness - you'll love it :D

Mixed it up a bit and did a hills session last night. Surprised I'm not feeling it today, it was a good work out. Need to make it more regular.

We'll done. I'm doing the Hadleigh Legacy 10k on Sunday. It's all hill.
