What are you eating and drinking tonight?

If you have a life outside of BWFC, then this is the place to tell us all about your toilet habits, and those bizarre fetishes.......

I'm a committed omnivore, LE. With a distinct preference for fish over meat. But no principled objection to eating meat whatsoever. I just want to do it fairly rarely. However my partner of 30 years come march is a non-meat eater, and those veggie Lincoln sausages are yummy, and pleased both of us on a saturday morn...
OK OK, I suppose I do ingest the occasional bit of vegetable matter!
Apparently it's the sage that gives them their distinctive flavour. I've dated a disproportionately high number of vegetarians for some reason.
the sausages or the vegetarians?

Bruce Rioja wrote:Wow. Seriously impressed that you're even attempting any one of those courses, BP. All the best, Fella. Let us know how it goes, won't you? That looks like my idea of a pretty much perfect meal.

Managed to pull it off fairly comfortably (fnarr) much to my surprise. Mrs BP loved it and even Miss BP had a good go at it.

Other than the starter, main, pickle and chapatti's (which were a lot easier than I expected) there's not a great deal of cooking. The starter and main were marinated in advance and cooked later. The only slight balls up was adding mint instead of coriander to the relish. If anything, the mistake helped cool the heat of the pickle and the coriander chutney, which were bloody hot, but tasty.

Far and away the biggest meal that I've ever prepared, but i'd have no hesitation in undertaking the task again.

If anyone is interested, all of the recipes bar the starter, are from the excellent Hairy Biker's curry book.

Just remembered, I even had time to make a venison chilli for today. Enjoying a well earned rest now.

They'll be better than the Asda 'Extra Special' pork sausages that I used in my casserole.

You might want to change that, before someone comes along with the "rent boy" remark....

He's not really. I tried to have it put in his marriage vows but it didn't happen. :( He's more of a Brighton fan and a Liverpool hater. Enjoys watching any football rather then a proper fan who is actually bothered whether his team wins or loses. Which is fine by me as it means I get to influence the twins, my baby gooners! :)

I'm not sure being a Brighton fan helps his case, any.

Tonight - my wife has made two veggie curries. I shall be sampling both.

The wine is already open, and is an unbeatable bargain from Booths. A chardonnay-viognier blend from Chile. At just under a fiver.

Had a lovely belated Christmas dinner last night with some fellow mums round at someone's house. I'm still stuffed today.

Tonight we shall be having Venison and Pheasant casserole with candied red cabbage, accompanied by a bottle of 2005 Montus (breathing nicely in the decanter as we speak) and then to follow a salted caramel chocolate bombe with crème fraîche, and a glass or two of Pineau des Charentes.

I'm giving tomorrow morning a miss.

Why don't you have something to eat as well whilst you're there? ;)
