"The Bolton boss said: "I spoke to him a couple of weeks ago and congratulated him on the job. I told him I'll see him in a couple of weeks and is there any chance of one or two of his players? He said, 'I'll see you next week, but no!'."

Fills you with hope, hey.

I was giving this some thought last evening. Would you want Zat Knight playing on the deck, through the midfield? Personally, I'd rather know it was likely to come back at us from 10-20 yards inside their half, than 5 yards from our box. :-)

Ah, but hang on, we've even seen Zatastrophe chucked up into the SKD role under this prick?!

Yeah, but its a step up from throwing an extra striker upfront isn't it?

Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

The quick answer is I wouldn't want Zat Knight playing at all.

The slightly longer answer is that midfielders should be asking for the ball in positions they can comfortably get them. If Zat can't play a five-yard ball forward (or even sideways, if the midfielder drops) then he shouldn't be playing in our first team. The chances of completing a long ball forward are almost always much much lower than completing a short ball. I'm not of the school that says defenders should only defend - full-backs in particular should be able to pass well and wisely - but no team's passing should be dictated by a centre-back, unless he's some sort of Beckenbauer - in which case he'd be more likely to move into midfield, not unlike our dear friends Ivan Campo. and Fernando Hierro.

'Fraid we ain't got a Paul Scholes type in our Mid setup, so thats a non-starter.

Yeah it's like when he says Jutkiewicz will do well if he gets the right service. He might as well admit he's going to be shite then, that was his excuse for Beckford. But then he says if we get a goalscorer or two we'll be at the top. Jesus wept.

Just remind me how many goals Beckford has scored this season? Hardly a total disaster on that front.

No not a total disaster of course, played correctly by a decent positive manager he'd have a lot more is what I'm thinking.

He has 8 so far, 6 in the league.

I don't think he is that good.

No but if he was we'd be top 6! We'd scrape a 7-7 at reading...

Getting sucked into the scrap at the bottom. Anybody think these players have the bottle for it? Anybody think this clown has the ability to steer them clear? We've had a few chances tonight. We missed them all and now this is just a routine home win for QPR, a pretty mediocre QPR at that. A poor to mediocre Ipswich will routinely beat us as well. Big big pressure on next home game Dougie...

Burnley isn't it? Should be a good game if we compete. They've had a great season so far. Might run out of steam though.
