Re: Ipswich Match Thread
Thing is, people seem to be assuming that if comply with FFP we will be paying with buttons. We'll still be able to match or better most in the league and there is no reason why properly managed we can't go up through the playoffs.
...
Re: Ipswich Match Thread
We can bemoan FFP all we want. We can bemoan our financial situation. But that doesn't explain why Dougie can't get this group of players to perform. It doesn't explain why he signs Moritz, claims he's a special player who can change games, claims he can play as a striker, yet refuses to bring him on when we're trailing away to Ipswich. Christ, he's only started FIVE times this season and still managed to score five goals ... yet gets ignored so often. The FFP doesn't explain so many utterly bizarre decisions made by Dougie. The fact is, he's using the financial situation as a scapegoat.
Re: Ipswich Match Thread
Is about where I'm at. Can't abide the semi-obsessive analysis of things he did, didn't, or might have said. Can't abide the slagging him off for not bringing through the youth 15 months after he arrived (?!). Can't abide lots of the other irrelevant stuff, because I think there is a lot of mitigation; it's a tough job, there are a lot of shithouses in that squad. Still think he could be doing better with what he does have. And that's the big un.

Re: Ipswich Match Thread
The point is he HAS said most of these ludicrous things. He has taken us to a worse position than he found us. He has failed to achieve even a modicum of progress. He has had money to spend despite the dire situation. He hs made a vast array of crap decisions. He has succeeded in confusing the fck out of the fans and ... imo .... the players. He has developed a crap method of play. He has made us relegation contenders. He has managed to blow year two of the parachute money.
It's a tough job ? Was there a moment he was promised it wasn't ?
To be fair to him he has also achieved two home league wins in 9 months. So fair play to him.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

No he hasn't! It astounds me to see normally sane people twisting perfectly normal comments. You're like the nutters playing Yoko records backwards.
The rest of it - the football - yeah, fair cop.

It's intent and effect.
It would appear that what he says has no effect on you. On others he does.

I think he's becoming a jibbering idiot. I think Freedman is too.

He's slagging off previous regimes for not doing it in less than double the time. He#s going to have to get his skates on if he's going to reach the standards he's set, considering he's done f*ck all different in the more-than-first -half.Prufrock wrote:Is about where I'm at. You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

He deserves some slack as before we didn't have any youth structure or medical teams.
Its just the change from using jumpers as goal posts to proper posts that is affecting our results.

Re: Ipswich Match Thread
I'm not disputing that he has 'said stuff'. I'm disputing that he's been quoted as saying things he hasn't said. Quoting means repeating word for word what he said. So he wasn't quoted as saying he'll get rid of people after Blackburn for example, because he didnt say that.jaffka wrote:He has been quoted, so he has said stuff.Prufrock wrote:No he hasn't! Now I get that there are different interpretations to what he does actually say. It seems to me some people try to twist what he actually says to mean something he clearly didn't mean. I get that those people probably think I do the same, and that's fine but:
You can't 'quote' someone as saying something they didn't say. Its fine to interpret these things, but that isn't the same as him saying what you think he meant.
Its all pointless anyway as no one would give a feck if we weren't shit at football. That's the real issue!
Context is important too. He's Scottish, so when he said the club has never brought through young players, or the words he said to that effect, I dont think he meant literally 'never', as that would be a nuts thing to say. In the same way that when Paul Lambert comes out after Villa get beat and says 'we never passed the ball' I don't think Villa fans sit around saying 'well actually we passed it 300 times in that game so he's a wanker'.

There is something very wrong when several of you are agreeing with my statements. Am I becoming boring?Andy Waller wrote:IggyTheDawgster wrote:I'll third that, Craig has always looked lively and dangerous when he's come on. Was really the last straw for me loaning him out and getting that unpronouncable in, what an awful, awful decision.
I'll fourth it. i just can't see the point in loaning out someone and getting someone in to replace them?
Unless he's told Dougie to f**k off?

Search for Bolton Mad League History or bookmark this site. Click a season (left-hand column). Click Table after the game you want.LeverEnd wrote:does anyone know if there's any way of seeing last year's table after specific games?
Or, Statto.com to check by season then date.
Villa rarely complete 300 passes in a game. At Everton last time out it was 125.Prufrock wrote:Context is important too. But I get your point

Re: Ipswich Match Thread
So, if I'm reading this right, we were in the same position but 6 points better off at this stage last season.
Interestingly, Wolves were a point and a place below us, a full five points better than we are now. Which makes a little nervous reading.
Edit: In fact 28 points last year would have had us second bottom at this stage.

Despite having been to about 40 grounds, Deepdale is one I have always missed out. Quite up for that. Then again, we might swap places with them, fired to playoff glory by Davies and Davies.bwfcdan94 wrote:Its all pointing to one thing LK PNE away anyone.

How much danger are we in of getting relegated last yearLord Kangana wrote:So, if I'm reading this right, we were in the same position but 6 points better off at this stage last season.
