I can hear the sound of his ACL snapping as I type,

I am undecided with this and understand both sides of the argument.

I do think this is his last chance though, another injury and that will be it.

It's similar to the Paul Lake scenario.

We have been paying his wages. The compensation only covers a portion.

As for a new deal, well I can only imagine he will be very very cheap, as I can't see him getting offered anything elsewhere. Would be a gamble I guess.

Frankly despite what that article says I would be surprised to see Holden here next season on anything other than a month to month deal.

I'd see it as Freedman/Gartside last roll of the dice, bring back a fan favourate to get the peasants on board!!!

I'd say that that's and incredibly fair analogy to date. Let's hope it doesn't culminate similarly.

Three years is a long time to be out of action, but we'd look a bit soft if we didn't at least give Holden a chance after all the care he's had. He likes Bolton, did well for us and his accident was no fault of his. I'm sure Dougie will at least be smart enough to know how to handle that one.

We'd be crazy to give him a rich, long contract ... yet equally so to wave him goodbye. I'm relieved that the tenor of that report suggests there's no rushing him and so he's no longer looking for a US place in the Brazil World Cup.

... he's changed hus running style as well !!

I'd be amazed to see him reach the heights again but even a half capable, if fit, Stuart Holden would be a sight for sore eyes.

Unfortunately they didn't take him in January. He won't be with us in May anyway.

Anywhoo. Someone needs fert start a new transfer thread as this godforsaken mess of a thread should've been locked a week ago. Everyone has got five seconds to say their goodbyes then it'll be gone forever.
Fair play to plymouth though; it's going to go down in history as the thread that got shut of N'gog. Kudos.

anyone else notice that the motd commentator made a couple of observations wrt Dawson at WBA.

First was reference to a growing call by WBA fans for him to be in the team (might have used the word clamour)

2nd was reference to a quote by their manager that dawson was 'the future'

Nothing to rule anything out, but with the wigan / other club interest as well, don't think its one to pin hopes on
