I can heartily recommend 'Capote' as a starting place, Hoboh.Hoboh wrote:I must get out more sorry to say I'd never heard of him, sad tale it seems RIPBruce Rioja wrote:Philip Seymour Hoffman. 46. Drug overdose, apparently. A truly magnificent actor. RIP.

Re: This weeks RIP's........
PSH was a great actor. Loved his cameos but the only film I have seen with him in a leading role is Synecdoche, New York, which is just bizarre. I haven't gotten round to watching Capote because I feel the need to read In Cold Blood first. I will rectify that shortly and then watch his Oscar-winning performance.
He's great in Happiness, Lebowski, State & Main, Punch Drunk Love, Almost Famous and Magnolia. I really want to watch The Master.
He'll be missed. RIP. Hard drugs are bad news.

Re: This weeks RIP's........
Somebody once said to Nat, after an England game "You played well" Nat replied, (as near as I can remember the wording I read somewhere) "With Mathews on one wing and Finney on the other, how could you not play well?" Tom Finney was the last of the Three Musketeers of English football, and his passing is the end of an era of legends. R.I.P.

Re: This weeks RIP's........
Not wishing to do any disservice to this thread but Sir Finney's passing has his own thread in the other football.
Probably more suitable for him to have his own unique thread with him being such a fantastic footballer and good mate of our own Sir Nat.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: This weeks RIP's........
A sad loss to music and a really mind-blowingly talented guitarist. I never saw Paco live, although I saw the other Paco (Pena) and Juan Martin several times. I have quite a few of his records, (unfortunately many on casettes and video) and absolute stacks of flamenco stuff from people he worked with, like Camaron de la Isla. So sad to see a whole generation of music legends fading away. R.I.P Maestro.Dr Hotdog wrote: Paco De Lucia
