That review was spot on! I think there acty is such a thing as 'good for a chain' but F&Bs is not it! Better than. Coast to Coast though!

F&B's is terrible. And I think the review is pretty much bob on. There is nothing wrong with chain restaurants if done well. San Carlo is after all a chain of sorts.
But the price you pay in F&B's you could go and eat some very good, very good indeed, food, prepared by a talented kitchen, with a menu that has been painstakingly designed.

Exactly. The guy's food bill for two courses for two was £35. When I think what I could eat at several places within easy reach for that it beggars belief that anyone would go to F&B's for anything other than say kid's parties.BWFC_Insane wrote: But the price you pay in F&B's you could go and eat some very good, very good indeed, food, prepared by a talented kitchen, with a menu that has been painstakingly designed.

This whole Americanised thing of burgers, wings Man V Food style establishments is getting too much. As Pru said, Coast to Coast is so feckin' expensive and it's pretty damn poor. Been twice and left disappointed both times.
If done well, they're good. But they just seem to throw any old shit between 2 buns and go 'oh look' aren't we edgy. No.. you're boring. And monster munch crisps do not go well on burgers and chilli's.
Grrr...

Are you saying that £150 is too much to pay for shoes?

The kids like it, then it's good enough for me, if it's their pick - they're probably not going to go for the grazing menu at ABode...

Re: What are you eating and drinking tonight?
Guess it's down to personal preference. I personally wouldn't (generally) pay £150 for a pair of shoes - my missus would probably think she'd got a bargain. I operate a fairly strict "use one pair until I need a new pair" for work shoes. Golf Shoes are an exception to this rule.mummywhycantieatcrayons wrote:This cropped on my 'how much do glasses cost' thread.Worthy4England wrote:He was doing alright to cover the air of snobbishness, facing it head-on, right up-front, until he drew the comparison between the fact that it's unfair to treat foodies this way, as opposed to "someone who spends £150 on a pair of shoes" - which is common sense. Good job you had the Champers open and to hand then, eh?!Worthy4England wrote:I nearly choked on my caviar at that one.

I once spent £150 on a pair of Charles Church shoes. Absolutely wonderful - couldn't wear them out other than for re-soling and re-heeling. However, I once needed then re-doing in a hurry so rather than take them to my usual cobblers I nipped them into Timpson's.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how to feck-up a £150 pair of shoes.

£150 for shoes doesn't strike me as being particularly extravagant.Worthy4England wrote:Guess it's down to personal preference. It is a bit of a neither one thing nor the other price point though.
Not enough to get something well-made and worth having re-soled a few times, but too much for a pair that are essentially disposable.
Anyway... Frankie & Benny's... totally, irredeemably awful. See too Chiquitos and Bella Italia. It's amazing that they stay in business
