Re: Technology Thread.
you can hack the apple tv 2 and earlier to have xbmc on (maybe the 3rd version too) and some dudes got (or had) sky go running on it (xbmc)

its from about 6 months ago, might not work now. and it gives no info on the sky app. if youre that bothered , i bet theres more info on the internet.
i'll bet the ARM processor doesnt like the app.

I thought it was sky who blocked the app from working with appleTv as it would've an easy way of showing football in pubs?

I think you're right.
Only for apps though.
If you load sky go in a browser you can stream it with that squirrel thingy, or so I am told.

I'm in the market for a new telly. Looking at 50" - 55", LED. Any recommendations? Not looking for Ultra HD/3D or any of that nonsense, just a good picture quality and half decent sound.

Re: Technology Thread.
Do you want to be able to edit the Excel once you've put it in the combined document? If not, or if you don't mind editing the Excel in Excel then replacing that page afterwards then eCopy will do the job. You can get an evaluation copy if you search for it.General Mannerheim wrote:i wanna create a document that has some pages that are MS Word and some that are MS Excell but all in one document.... i also want a hoverboard....

Re: Technology Thread.
I haven't looked at eCopy for about 3 years, so not sure what the current functionality is. Might be worth checking it out in case they've improved editability. It is a good tool for combining document types for 1 document, also moving pages around and basic editing. You never used to be able to mess with Excel much though. Might be better now?

Looks like it will do the trick - http://www.nuance.com/for-business/by-p ... /index.htm
45 day trial link at the bottom. Get your IT geeks to install it for you. You can then import the files and unless it has changed it is drag and drop, so easy to use.

Thanks for trying, but it's not happening.
Re: Technology Thread.
is there a reputable cheaper place from which to purchase a 3DS? they seem to be going for £150-£160 in the normal places...

Yes it's a thing. And yes it's important. The bug could have existed without an exploit for a long time - so no one is aware the bug even exists - it's the nature of the beast as devs close other bugs and routes in, hackers look to find an alternate route - so this bug may never have been exploited, as there's been an easier route in for them previously, or as said in the article, no one ever dreamed that it would be easy enough to be worth the biscuit to try and Man in the Middle on a Secure Socket's Layer.KeyserSoze wrote:*dusts off thread*

SSL predominantly creates a secure connection between the end points (phone and server) across which you can pass your credentials - password, user ID etc, card details. Having someone you wouldn't want, sat in between those end points is clearly not a good thing.

Re: Technology Thread.
Finally got back on line after a bit of a nightmare day. Clocked off okay last night, came to switch on this morning and couldn't get the internet. Our SP is Virgin Media and the wife had no bother with her laptop and the super-duper modem type black box is connected to my pc. Tried all sorts even half a dozen system restores at different dates which all got rejected.
Malaware found a couple of bugs called Exploit but I couldn't update that even. Tried absolutley everything including a couple of scans and managed eventually to get an updated version of Malaware . The last scan tonight found 2 Trojan Agents, 3 P.U.M objects and well over 300....yes, that's 300 P.U.P optional objects. Rounded them all up and Malaware kicked em out. They even nullifed McCafee and stopped all rectification items on Windows. I'm really not a big pc user except on here, occasional Hotmail, Google and Google Images for searches. Something dragged the objects in, what, I've no idea. All seems well now, fingers crossed.

I've stayed out of the i-phone/pad debate. However, today a colleague pulled out her i-phone and said she had a new app. She pushed a couple of buttons and added an hour's parking to her city parking meter. I was impressed and so would anyone who is used to leaving the warm room, putting on winter clothes and going out in minus thirty to feed a meter.

You can do that here, even using them cheapo Android phones. Apple don't have a monopoly on ease of useMontreal Wanderer wrote:I've stayed out of the i-phone/pad debate. Re: Technology Thread.
Girlfs got an i-phone. She's got this swanky new app where you click on someone's name, wait a bit, and then you can literally talk to them. I mean, even if they're miles away! It's like they're actually there. So yeah don't hate on i-phones. I mean they just *work*.
