Re: Freedman out!
.... if only the manager had had the freedom to select and buy suitable players in the summer. Damn .... so close, yet so far.
He has stumbled onto a winning formula. Let's hope it lasts. If it does then he's a very lucky boy.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
"I understand you are a very good footballer" ... "I try".

In order to get into credit, you normally have to pay off the debt firstEnoch wrote:That's what I like, always nice to give credit where it's due.bobo the clown wrote:He has stumbled onto a winning formula. Let's hope it lasts. If it does then he's a very lucky boy.

And if only we didn't have all our resources tied up in rubbish like NGog and Sordell until it was too late to really effect the season.
Jutkiewicz and Mason came in once we'd shifted NGog. As much as I would criticise Freedman for not getting the right striker in the summer it is not like he's had a blank chequebook and freedom to bring in players whenever he likes....

How many strikers has Dougie signed for us on permanent contracts?

More than you'd like to admit I'm sure. Regardless, the price tag matters naught if you refuse to use them. Might as well have stuck with what he had for all they've done. Dougie hasn't had a huge amount to work with money wise, but it's still more than most. He's not the man that had the genius plan that just needed a loan player to make it all suddenly work, that you make him out to be.BWFC_Insane wrote:And how much has he spent on them.....Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:How many strikers has Dougie signed for us on permanent contracts?

As for strikers and usage thereof. To my knowledge he's signed two.
Sure Davies hasn't played much and seemingly is on his way out.
Beckford is our top scorer still, and injured.....
I'm not really sure what your point is? Davies was a gamble for not much money that didn't pay off.
Beckford was a free signing with bonus payments if we went up. And as I say has scored more goals than anyone else this season despite being out for the past 2 months.

He's spent as much as he's been able to spend on the wrong players. Poor choices by Freedman and he has to carry the can for his own piss-poor judgement.BWFC_Insane wrote:And how much has he spent on them.....Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:How many strikers has Dougie signed for us on permanent contracts?

Re: Freedman out!
And he will, I doubt Eddie sits there giving anyone a free pass when spending his money. But life is not so black and white as that anyhow. No manager, will have a 100% record with signing players. No manager ever.Bruce Rioja wrote:He's spent as much as he's been able to spend on the wrong players. And one would have to look at the relative cost of players also. Mason and Jutkiewicz are more expensive players than Davies and Beckford, so whether there was a chance, who knows?
And let us not forget, when the signings of Mason and Jutkiewicz came up they were almost universally criticsed by Bolton fans. Easy to say things like "X is the wrong signing" when 3 weeks later you can completely change tack.
And my argument is so far from "Dougie is a genius who has never got anything wrong blah blah" it is untrue.... It is merely that the full story is not told by a crude "x is good y is bad should have done z earlier" analysis as seems to be the fashion.
I am still very wary of next season as I think we're in for a very difficult time as the finances bite further and whoever our manager is, IMO will be relying on short term deals and kids to a greater extent. But no doubt that whoever the manager is, whatever the situation, should we not be in the top 6 or whatever there will be calls for his head. Just the way of football now.

Lacks the talent?! They've got one of the top 3 forwards in the league!SmokinFrazier wrote:McDermott is a much better manager than Freedman is and yesterday's result doesn't prove me wrong. Even at a mess of a club off the field which lacks the talent on it, they're still 5 places above us with a game in hand. What would a manager like McDermott do with the quality we have? I doubt we'd be in 17th after 34 games.BWFC_Insane wrote:Lolzzzzz.....SmokinFrazier wrote:Brian McDermott has been sacked by Leeds and he'd be another vast improvement on Freedman. There's a few decent options now, like Mackay and Clarke, and it's disappointing Freedman wasn't sacked before the end of the transfer window when someone more capable could have been brought in and had a chance to adjust the squad themselves.
And where is Stephen 'Premier League Wages' Warnock these days?

Re: Freedman out!
So we'd have been better off trading Sordell's 2 league goals and Ngog's zero league goals for Beckford's 6?Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:Pc crashed I can't be arsed typing it again. Given we have released some of Sordells wages into the bargain I'm really not sure that stacks up as being valid.
Re: Freedman out!
is this the same n'gog who doggie and insane were getting over excited about at the start of the season?
Re: Freedman out!
I do find it curious that while some fans were singing about 4-4-2 like they knew better all along, we still have the opposite of these 'general consensus' opinions taking place on the field:
Medo and Spearing playing together in the middle
M Davies shoehorned in somewhere not his position
Moritz on the bench

Re: Freedman out!
Well after a recent blip which involved naming unchanged sides, and giving the opposition something to worry about rather than worrying about them, it would appear normal service has been resumed.
Re: Freedman out!
Did anyone else spot the 'Freedman Out' bedsheet in the Nat Lofthouse upper tier which was unfurled for the last 5 minutes of today's game?
