Re: General Chit Chat
Not really thought about it a massive amount but I want to be buried and I too feel funny about my eyes being donated though am happy to have anything else taken. Suppose I should make a will.Bijou Bob wrote:My job role has changed recently, from dealing with cancer to palliative care and end of life issues (Not Mrs Bob tells me she can hardly wait for me to get home and depress her even further with my day).
Death is still very much a taboo subject, but just out of interest and following on from Bobo's plea for us all to make a will, how many of your loved ones know what your wishes are around resuscitation, burial or cremation etc?
I hadn't really thought about it much, but I'm going to be mightily pished off if they wheel me in to Whitney Houston's 'I will always love you' then bury me.
If I'm brain damaged, let me go and I'm in for cremation of what's left after the donor team have been in to slice me up. Apart from the eyes. No fecker touches my eyes.
Thought's??
Is this how you open dinner party conversations once people ask what you do for work Bob?!

My wife & kids all know ... if I'm a wreck then DNR, don't go to silly lengths to keep me going & if assisted suicide is available then it's for me if I'm that bad. Also, I'm happy for any spare part surgery if anyone would have mine. Finally, I'm a burner and the ashes split between Rivington and a place near hear called the Panorama.
Light hearted a funeral as is possible. Some good rousing hymns and through the curtains to Free's 'Morning, Sad Mourning' (quite heavy I suppose) switching to Zepplin's 'Kashmir'.
Sorted. No surprises, all informed. Oh .... & if my ex-boss turns up to the burning then some fckr has to put him in with me.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

This subject is one I do give real thought about; I must say I find talking about death to be more awkward than taboo and it can be unsettling for those closely involved.Bijou Bob wrote:My job role has changed recently, from dealing with cancer to palliative care and end of life issues (Not Mrs Bob tells me she can hardly wait for me to get home and depress her even further with my day).

I suppose it really depends upon how much, if any, time you have to gently influence these things, some are luckier than others in this respect.
Much as we like to think we are, we are not masters of our own destiny and we need to use whatever time is given to us wisely.

Re: General Chit Chat
Thought we'd had this, but anyway, I recently made a will leaving all nett profits in trust for my nephews and niece. I was horrified to learn that my half sisters and brothers (thanks Dad, you utter c*nt) have an equal claim against my estate to both my brothers, so it needed sorting. So, with that sorted, just send me through the curtain to this

May the bridges I burn light your way

Re: General Chit Chat
Over here we have a will and a living will (mandate), which says what happens if I'm still alive but incapable of making decisions. My will opts for cremation and my ashes will come home to join my parents in the Christ Church, Heaton, wall or remembrance. The estate can pay for my kids trip to bring the ashes and they can see where I came from. I've left any services up to my wife and kids - I couldn't care less - though I expect the University will have a memorial service (I started there over 50 years ago).Bijou Bob wrote:My job role has changed recently, from dealing with cancer to palliative care and end of life issues (Not Mrs Bob tells me she can hardly wait for me to get home and depress her even further with my day).

Re: General Chit Chat
Mrs Dujon and I made our wills years ago. We have no need to change them. Thinking about this the other day I realised that I don't know where those wills are. They were originally stored in a Safe Custody Packet (SCP) in one of the local branches of the bank for which I used to work. This was a free service provided by the bank for customers as well as employees. Since then though the bank has undergone a number of changes. Firstly it changed its name from A to B. Then B had some sort of amalgamation with C. After that C was absorbed into D, which still exists.
I think that it's time for me to start tracking that SCP else we'll die intestate.

While we get copies of our wills, they are also lodged with the appropriate government authority. Surely that would be true of NSW.Dujon wrote:Mrs Dujon and I made our wills years ago. Who the hell has that plane?
Re: General Chit Chat
Now it's possibly been hijacked.
However, I think it's aliens that have done it.

Re: General Chit Chat
That doesn't make any sense. If North Korea wanted the plane, they would have just used the teleporter that Kim Jong-Un invented in his bedroom. There would have been no need to turn off the communications devices. He could make it disappear out of the air and reappear in NK.Hoboh wrote:I was thinking more little fat man in NK tbhLittle Green Man wrote:Vincent Tan's got it hidden deep inside a hollowed-out volcanoHoboh wrote:Who the hell has that plane?

Think they sould be able to spot from outside, whether it's in there. Planes are quite large.Annoyed Grunt wrote:Police are searching the house of one of the pilots....jaffka wrote:Now it's possibly been hijacked.

Mate of mine won 42 grand on an accumulator at Cheltenham yesterday. His first horse was favourite and came nowhere...would have been heading up to 250k had that one come in too...

I'm still sweating on an email from Lottery HQ about that £108,000,000 they owe me. Perhaps I should give it up.Worthy4England wrote:Mate of mine won 42 grand on an accumulator at Cheltenham yesterday. Said to Mrs C yesterday that I'd be looking at either the pilot or co-pilot. Should've been a detective me.Annoyed Grunt wrote:Police are searching the house of one of the pilots....jaffka wrote:Now it's possibly been hijacked.
