The athletics/running thread

If you have a life outside of BWFC, then this is the place to tell us all about your toilet habits, and those bizarre fetishes.......

Happy that young Miss GtE has got a place in the London Mini-Marathon this year.

Just been out for 5km. Felt like a very elderly slug carrying a heavy rucksack. :?

Good news, always wanted to do that as a kid. I'm guessing she enjoyed it last time? Good luck to her.

Talking of marathons I'm very interested to see how Mo gets on.
Didn't like the running to halfway charade last year one bit, but don't blame him for taking it.
I've a feeling he'll do very well.

The mini-marathon is the last 3 miles of the course, finishing on the Mall. Last year we had a great view on Birdcage walk seeing first the kids then the wheelchair and elite runners coming through. I'll be delighted if I get to see Mo Farah finishing.

Like you, though, I think his half marathon last year was a farce. I mean, it must have taken ages to walk back to baggae reclaim. He'd have been better off carrying on.

OK, deep breath, off to the 12 stage. My morning toilet visit indicates nerves, which is good.

Ran last leg and maintained 17th position which would have been more pleasing had Horwich not been 16th :whack: (up yours HG!)
18.09 for 4.94k, felt unfit though, was a struggle and not at all enjoyable!
For a glorious moment we led the field with Tom Lancashire finishing first on leg 1!

Having a tough time at Harriers at the moment which has resulted in me not going to training Tuesdays for the past few weeks and so not running after coaching. Today my running buddy has failed to get a babysitter so can't come out and I am struggling for motivation to go myself. Really hoping that sunnier weather might motivate me more. I need to get fit. Feeling a bit despondent about it all. :(

A stealthy return on a little used thread, I like it! Welcome back, GG said she's been lost without you. She's had to content herself with labelling me a serial killer.

As for running, only run twice this week after racing last weekend. Off to Worsley Woods parkrun with my sis on Sat, much quicker course than Bolton. Will run but might take it easy and just go round with her depending on beer consumption the night before.
Sunday I'm going to the Wilmslow Half Marathon with a clubmate I've started coaching. She's very talented and faster than me at the moment so I'm excited to see how fast she runs in only her 2nd half (84:30 for the first).
I'll be jumping in puddles with her 2 year old while she runs.

Anyone racing this weekend?

In fairness, we all labeled you a serial killer on account of the beard. :-)

Had my most active week for months. 12 miles Sunday, spin Tuesday, run around the Pike & 2 lads last night, and a swim  this morning.

Hill repeats tomorrow morning before a long rest and then a 17 miler on Sunday. It's a long distance walking event that some runners do and I've done a few times before, so no pressure, and will be delighted to get round with no injuries

1. Anyone that has caught sight of several of your Facebook pics will know that to be true.

2. There's not a lot more fun you can have then jumping in puddles with a 2 year old. Enjoy.

We will probably all faint with surprise if you get round with no injuries, sick note ;)
