I think he'd be easy to suss out and nullify, though his pace always gives him a chance to get in behind. I wish him well though, as he gave us a boost when we needed it. We've got enough on loan now surely, I don't see the point of adding to the debt now we've got Hutton. I'd just stick with what we've got, especially with Tierney and Riley not far off and a decent 9 point cushion.
Close the thread! It souks.

Gotta love THAT optimism.

"There is also good news on the horizon with Marc Tierney and Joe Riley both making encouraging progress in training, with both expected back on the pitch by the end of the season. "
There!! A quote from none other than Marc Iles.

Ah .... "expected back on the pitch by the end of the season".
Fair play ..... I suspect he'll be waving to us in the end of season walk around then ..... maybe.

So via that we hear Josh Vela is being loaned to Notrs County. Good luck to him. I hope they don't mess up his new running style.
Obviously never heard of this lad and seems to be very much out of the picture at Southampton. But, another 'combative midfielder'. If a good player comes available you take a look i guess but woukd it harm us to look at other positions now and again ?

So, what was it that Freedman said about us developing our own youngsters and not those of other clubs? Can someone just remind me?

Re: Abdoulaye's going t'Souk transfer thread
Plus the fact that he's 21, isn't in contention for the first team at Southampton and has only played 5 times this season for their U21's????? Its bizarre, surely at 21 a player should be at least in a first team matchday squad somewhere and not struggling to get into a Development side? Either Freedman or his scouts are just mentalists

Whilst broadly I agree that if by 21 players don't have senior experience it raises alarms. I'm not sure that saying we shouldn't sign a player because he can't get into the sqaud of a top half premiership side is really where we're at.....wigan white wrote:Plus the fact that he's 21, isn't in contention for the first team at Southampton and has only played 5 times this season for their U21's????? Its not that bit that bothers me, its the fact that he's only managed to get into their development (U21's ) side only 5 times that is a major concern for me.BWFC_Insane wrote:Whilst broadly I agree that if by 21 players don't have senior experience it raises alarms. Re: Abdoulaye's going t'Souk transfer thread
I have just been on the Southampton FC site and they have 6 central midfielders in their Development Squad, so most of them are not going to be starting each week. Only 5 games out of 18 this season may not appear to be great but has he had any injuries?
Southampton have a very good youth system and have brought a number of quality players through the ranks. There is no harm in looking at the lad.

Well actually according to a Saints support at my college who showed me the article this morning he's "top notch".

Re: Abdoulaye's going t'Souk transfer thread
These talented young players stuck in prem reserve sides are exactly what we should be looking at. We'll not be able to offer big wages I expect. We do seem to have a surfeit of midfielders who offer little width or real pace however. We won't be keeping them all. I reckon CYL and Eagles are on their way.malcd1 wrote:I have just been on the Southampton FC site and they have 6 central midfielders in their Development Squad, so most of them are not going to be starting each week. I agree with all this. CYL and Eagles have been good in the past but I'm not sure they're the solution to where we find ourselves.LeverEnd wrote:These talented young players stuck in prem reserve sides are exactly what we should be looking at. If he's 21, he's a youngster. If he's better than ours, let's have him. It's not like we're giving him back having polished him up for others.Bruce Rioja wrote:So, what was it that Freedman said about us developing our own youngsters and not those of other clubs? Can someone just remind me?

Is that paraphrasing?
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

The Oracle saying Derby are interested in Eagles and Keith Andrews. Nothing concrete yet.

I'd be interested in Eagles if he ever got on the pitch....malcd1 wrote:The Oracle saying Derby are interested in Eagles and Keith Andrews. Nothing concrete yet.
