Don't know what the latest is like, but the Canon G series is very good and enough for most folk. I've still got a G3 and it stands up to much newer cameras.

Re: the Photo thread
No idea about bridge cameras, but AT is right about the Canon G's. I've worn a G9 out (after years of abuse) and am currently taking a couple hundred pics a month with A G10. Faultless! Solid piece of kit that sits in the hand very nicely, has some weight about it, which I like. Pick a good one up on eBay for £200'ish. In general, when buying a camera, stick with Canon or Nikon. If you want a tv buy Pansonic.

I was looking for a click n go digital camera for my son to take on a school trip, thinking we probably have a few hanging around in drawers. Didn't find the one I was looking for, but did find my non-digital Pentax SF7. Might blow the dust off it, and then see if anywhere still sells film.

I've had a Sony Cybershot for a couple of years. Holds about a thousand images and has a dozen shooting options. Little belter for general purpose shooting and easily transfers to my pc. .Worthy4England wrote:I was looking for a click n go digital camera for my son to take on a school trip, thinking we probably have a few hanging around in drawers. I've got a few digi's, A couple of Canon's and a new Fuji. They're all pretty good snappers, but they do tend to make you lazy and "auto" everything. My newly found Pentax is also automatic, but for some reason I'm more likely to unauto it, because it uses film, so you can't bin as many and get away with it!

I had some films developed recently, I think it was bonusprint, Worthy. Just put 35mm film development into that interweb stuff and it should give you a good idea.

Just spotted they sell film at Tesco.

Re: the Photo thread
I always feel developing film is worth the work, whereas with digi, you just scrap 'em with a click when sat at your computer. I still love the feeling of receiving developments in the post, exitement at what maybe in the envelope. Re: the Photo thread
had a new camera for my birthday which has re-ignited my interest...
was aiming for sunset over St Marychurch this evening - but got that badly wrong - so decided to have a go at a monochrome composition of the high street..
there's something about monochrome - the absence of the clutter/noise of the colour reduces the image to the bare simplicity of light and tone and contrast... and there's something beautiful in that (I think)

Re: the Photo thread
I rather like that, thebish. It could have been another hum-drum photograph of yet another town but it's a little bit more. In particular the angle of sunlight producing the reflection from the windows of the car on the right and the seemingly lit lights at the far intersection. Then there's what I assume is a restaurant with an awning labelled with "Aspects". All that combined with the looming hill top church makes an attractive composition.

aye... the colour - far from adding to it - totally takes away from it - meh!mummywhycantieatcrayons wrote:Agreed - do you have the colour version for comparison?thebish wrote:had a new camera for my birthday which has re-ignited my interest...
