Guy at our place is convinced it's been abducted by aliens and will reappear on radar in its last known position next week.
Although to be fair he is diabetic.

See, I think that they should change that part of the emergency procedure gubbins to "In the event of cabin depressurisation a small mask will fall down in front of you. You may as well wear it as a fecking hat".

So after finding some debris, yesterday, they couldn't find it today. I think I'm starting to see a pattern emerge here.

I think, from a colossal height, they spotted something that might be debris or might have been something else 24 meters long.

I feel sorry for all the poor sods whose loved ones were on that plane, what with the martians, Yanks, dodgy pilots, etc. they seem to be more and more forgotton about, sad.

Not down here they're not, Hoboh. I feel for them as it must be dreadful just waiting hoping beyond hope that the 'plane will be found somewhere on land and intact. Nevertheless some of them have made more than just a nuisance of themselves in Malaysia. Surely, even in grief, sensible people don't bang around the place demanding that the Malaysian authorities tell them where the 'plane is? Invading the press centre didn't help either.

To the best of my knowledge there have been something like 20+ countries involved in the search. In the Indian Ocean search alone there is a whole team of military aircraft and vessels involved. Unfortunately the search area is so far from land and the search area so large that the majority of the aircraft take four hours to reach the site, search for two hours and then have to return to refuel. Add to that a small number of naval vessels and half a dozen merchantmen that have voluntarily joined the task force and you finish up with a significant input of effort. This job is only one of many which have been undertaken over the last fortnight. It has been an incredible effort.

I was intrigued though by the number of relatives and friends who flew in to Kuala Lumpur from overseas. Why?

To be fair given all the speculation about this flight so far and without any 'hard' evidence ie wreckage I would have been a little more cautious.
The report I've read says this is based on entirely a new way of analysing data so speculative at best?

But it is based on British data and British analysis, Hoboh, so surely not speculative third world analysis...

Isn't Britain in Europe?

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

No I agree it should be taken seriously but any new way of doing things is fraught with gremlins.
To the poor devils who had loved ones on board, without any 'hard' evidence, it really answers nothing. They should have waited but the previous cock ups have made them too hasty to release information IMHO.

Really? You don't think they'd feel the need to have gone beyond all reasonable doubt before making such an announcement to the bereaved families and the world in general?
