Hill repeats tomorrow morning before a long rest and then a 17 miler on Sunday. It's a long distance walking event that some runners do and I've done a few times before, so no pressure, and will be delighted to get round with no injuries
In preparation for my Half Ironman in August I have started a new regime this week. I can only train in the evenings due to work so a little tweaking has been done.
Monday - 10k of drills. hill sprints, loops at continuous effort 7.15 to 7.30 pace
Tuesday - 1600m swim Split into 400m warm up 800m drills (Kicking, pulls, single arm etc.) 400m warm down.
Wednesday - Rest
Thursday - Long run (8miles) at 7: 30 to 7:45 pace
Friday - 1600m swim. More drills
Saturday - Long run (11m) at 7:45 pace
Sunday - Bike ride. 20 miles at first building up to 50 (half Ironman distance or thereabouts)
Time to go hard or go home. Just hope it's enough.

Hey! Better to have ran and get injured, than to be sat on the couch lacking motivation

That's good going that G. Whilst my mileage is back up to decent levels, I feel a long way off managing those distances at a good pace. Cheers H. It's not my saying, unfortunately, but I like it.
And GG? What with you missing football training Wednesday and cancelling running last night you'd have been going early every day. No wonder they wouldn't let you.

Re: The athletics/running thread
Got through today's 17 miler with no major problem. Took it pretty easy at the start and ran with a mate of Mrs G's but worked quite hard for the 2nd half. First time I've done it when the weather was so clear - the views from Holcome and over Entwistle were fantastic. Some loon was moaning at the end that they'd marked part of the course on Bull Hill, and how when the fog goes down with no markers, it sorts out the men from the boys

Re: The athletics/running thread
Sounds good HG, might be able to do a bit next Sunday, managed a decent 45 min this weekend. Missed parkrun after letting myself down fri eve, but my sis ran a 1.18 pb of 24:49. She did 33+ in her first last summer so has done very well, and I've got her doing intervals now so more to come.
Then went to the Wilmslow Half this morning with my friend Catherine, she knocked over 3 mins off her best with a brilliant 1:21.20, and several other Bolton Harriers ran PBs as well. makes me keen to get back out there again.

Good running guys.
Did 11 miles Saturday morning along the Lee valley tow path. 7:45 pace which was nice and comfortable.
Today I went out with a tri coach for some cycling training. 32 miles and a sore arse later and I'm ready for the tri-season.

Went out running yesterday and saw someone pounding towards me who looked the spitting image of Lever Ends profile pic.

Wracking my brain trying to write a coaches report for the AGM tonight, trying to say something new and exciting and not the same old crap. Struggling.

^ a tempting thought Lever End, but sadly it's all done and emailed now so can't let you lot get your hands on it (and get me into trouble).
