I hadn't seen that amazing outburst from Freedman but it sums the fckwit up for me.

He really should stop making live statements.

He accuses him of deserving the sending off and that he cares little about whether he's banned for one or three games as he'll just replace him with someone better !! Then adds for good measure that if he doesn't like it he can just slink off into a corner for three weeks and have a sulk.

Now ... we all get emotional now and again but what sort of comments are they ?

They're the ill-educated ramblings of an absolute 4uckwit who is to man management what I am to the pirouette. The man's stupidity is boundless.

It was an incredibly poor thing to say. He should take Baptiste aside and apologise and hopefully sort out whatever issue there is/was.

I'm all for managers blasting players now and again, but I don't like singling people out in that way. It isn't good. And to be fair it may have been awful defending from Baptiste but I'm far from convinced it warranted a red.

Oh ... and in case Pru claims he didn't say it. Or, if he did it's not as bad as I infer ... or it's being taken out of context ;

http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/wa ... e/?ref=mac" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Asked if he was worried a straight red could earn Baptiste a three-match ban, the Scot said after the game: “It doesn’t give me any problems at all because he deserves to miss three games. He can sulk for three weeks if he wants, I’ll just get someone who can defend a little bit better than that".
===================================

Never mind that the vast majority were far from convinced it was a foul, or a penalty & most certainly a sending off, even as a second yellow.

Maybe he's finally stopped putting up with below-par performances from a player who has the ability to be doing far better. Perhaps he's beginning to regret what was clearly a pact between them when he signed NOT to play him at centre-half, but at full-back no-matter-what. But "I'll just get someone who can defend ... better" is stunning.

I'm more convinced than ever that we are witnessing a real, live, full-scale computer game being played by some kid who thinks ultimately he can simply scrub the season off at the end and move on regardless.

"I’ll just get someone who can defend a little bit better than that".

Not a very difficult job. I realise I'm on a hiding to nothing here but what's wrong in telling a player he's cocked up? Is this yet another example of the PC brigade's attitude - everybody's equal - you can't have winners and losers because calling someone a loser might scar them for life etc..etc.. So Baptiste doesn't feel loved anymore - who gives a sh*t - he's got two choices - improve or don't get picked.

There are ways and means Bruno.

He's picked him week in, week out. Played him despite not playing well. Played him out of position in my view .... and moved others to accommodate him.

But losing patience publically and, in this instance, not entirely correctly in my view is poor, poor management. To say that one of your senior players won't be missed, despite being almost an ever-present this season, is bizarre. To say "he can go off & sulk for 3 weeks for all I care" smacks of sulking itself.

He's over-indulged him this season. It seems like he's not frustrated and maybe embarrassed that it's gone on so long. But there are better ways than having an irrational paddy at him to the media.

My suspicion is that he tried to dress him down in the changing rooms and Baptiste told him he was a wanker. Add that to Knight saying that his rotation policy is confusing and irrational, especially when man-of-the-match performances lead to being dropped and maybe the pressure's getting to him.

I half expect Baptiste not to be seen again as DF has a penchant for disposing with those who cross him.

I don't think how much the player has played matters really. If you're going to blast players in public do it collectively rather than individually.

Protect players in public at least, because it helps foster a group mentality. Everyone gets frustrated but I think with players now, you just have to keep things behind closed doors.

Maybe he knows Baptiste and thinks a scathing attack might piss him off to point of being better?

Man-management cliche.. Some can handle it, others need an arm round the shoulder.

Well he picked Mears for half a season then suddenly declared he wasn't his sort of fullback. At least he can't be accused of jumping to hasty conclusions in either case.
I'd quite like Baptiste to come out and tell the press he's a clueless chancer and out of his depth.

wonder how many pages the freedman out thread will have before it happens - perhaps we should run a book.

the above comments on baptiste and public criticism, is just another illustration of different peoples views as to what the right approach is to any given situation. I've seen views expressed that this is what he should be saying, rather than the behind closed doors mantra.
the following link was on another forum http://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/foo ... e.23745081" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;?

the players with their 'own ideas' comment was the one that jumped out at me. To me that betrayed an almost parent like 'do what I say' approach, whereas I'd have thought you want players, particularly senior players, to be playing a part in deciding and believing in whats done.

The over analysis of freedman comments debate has been done to death, but once again allI'd say is that it putting all the bits together seems to be a guy that either
- is another stubborn f****r, who if he was half as good as they think they are would have us in the top half of the prem rather than in danger of dropping or
- a visionary who just needs time getting people in, who believe in him and his methods, when we all can then see he did know what he was doing

I know what I think he is

It would be interesting.

Mind you, Zat Knight more or less did this week. Not that he's criticism-free, and he has his own issue with contracts, but it made interesting reading. There's a little bit of "worried by a dead sheep" about it, as it's very gentle, but his meaning is clear.

http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/wa ... g/?ref=mac" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Zat Knight admits he has found it a challenge getting his head round Wanderers’ squad rotation system in recent weeks. The big defender has been in top form .... but has still found his place in the side far from certain. Despite a man-of-the-match display against Derby a fortnight ago, Knight was dropped for the 2-0 defeat at Brighton.

Back in the team at Huish Park he continued his hot streak – but going into tonight’s home clash with Blackpool he accepts there are no guarantees he will retain his shirt. “It can be frustrating because of course you want to play every game”.

“It’s the manager’s decision and you have to live with it, but I’ll carry on playing for my place. I feel like I’ve had a decent season ..... it’s about character and how you bounce back. You can have a great game one week and then get dropped. It’s about how you keep yourself mentally.”

“We shouldn’t be waiting until we’re two goals down to react. We should be punishing teams.”

Zat for manager? Individually some played quite well tonight. As a team unit it was a shambles at times.

Few and far between. Duke was full of intent, Mason did the hard bit (beat players) a few times, then cocked up the easier bit....final ball. Midfield were poor tonight and defence would have been punished more by a Sunday team. Boggers did ok, including one punch that landed about halfway. Even Clattenburg was too bored to do anything controversial.

After we scored they put us under pressure and our defending couldn't even be described as schoolboy standard. Any half decent side would have gone in at half time about 3-1 up.

Apparently Zola, Hoddle and Mackay are the three man shortlist for the Forest job. Their fans must be glad to support a club with ambition who want to achieve things.
