Be very sad to see Moritz (or is it) Ritzy leave.

There's something of the Arnie Gunnlaugson about him though.

Whenever he starts he seems to be anonymous but brought on for the final 15 minutes he invariably can pose a serious creative threat. If he could be that for 90 minutes, 60 even, he'd be a World beater.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

He's like the attacking midfield Champo version of Klasnic. Talented but tends to drift out of games, especially ones he starts.

I think he's handy to have around, but I don't see him ever being a regular stater.

Well, good luck to the kid who's come in and all that, but that's the least inspiring "deadline day" in memory.

Sad too because with a moribund team and a divided and repetitive messageboard, this thread - now effectively closed - often felt like the only positive reason to come on here...

The evening news is saying we're about to offer Zat Knight a new deal.

Today's April 1st isn't it?

I think one should read the quotes there rather than the headline. Freedman appears to be insinuating, and not very subtly, that Knight is only pulling his finger out in order to earn a new contract.......

Yes I'd say there's a dig in there. The 6 week contract bit is a giveaway. He has been playing well but he's synonymous with our recent failures and should be released. Keep Mills Wheater and Ream, shove Baptiste in there if necessary, we don't need him. Surely Bolger must be due a chance soon?

I haven't got time in my busy life to read actual quotes. So Freedman is basically publically slagging off another of his players. His club captain no less....

Well not really, praising his form but questioning why it's suddenly so much better than before. Must be noted that while playing well I've seen him head against his own post and nearly overhead slice into his own net. Too much water under the bridge, get rid.

Basically, is he just making sure we all know he's not to blame for any of the faults in the side? By highlighting names, a bad policy publicly for me, he's rapping the gavel and reminding everybody who's in charge. Every week somebody seems to get a public humiliation sermon (Baptiste was a prime example of something that should have been said to the player in office). None of this can be doing much for player confidence and team spirit. If he were a headmaster he'd surely be an advocate of the dunce's cap.

So Freedman gets slagged off for the merest none existent hint he might get a player a new deal? Then when it is pointed out that isn't really what he's saying, he gets slagged off for supposedly slagging off a player?

Brilliant.

And the player in question has probably taken more abuse on here than any other player this season.

The interview is nothing more than Freedman acknowledging Knights form but reminding him and everyone else of what came before. If he didn't do that people would be furious. As it turns out people will have a dig regardless.

It's nothing like his Baptiste rant, which was very poor. I think like BWFCI says, this is mainly praise with an understandable dig on the side. The BN puts a very positive take on it with its headline, so maybe in the actual interview tone was that way too. Must also be remembered that Knight had his own dig selection policy wise.

Yeah the Baptiste comments were way over the top.

This is somewhat different.
