Congratulations. By the way, is a triple jump for you called a jump by us non-dwarves?
And I actually have quite long legs, it's just the rest of my body that is a bit stumpy.![]()
I have won gold and bronze medals in the past at the Sussex champs. No chance of that this year!
On becoming a Vet. Takes years of study what with so many animal physiologies to cope with. Perhaps you can explain to LLS the difference between a greyhound (Canis lupus familiaris) and a human being (Homo Sapiens)
I could however explain to LLS how to milk a cow or birth a lamb if you think that might help?
Probably not.

Ah. That'll be that no-one has ever tried to nobble a human being with a pork pie. But I remain hopeful.Gary the Enfield wrote: Perhaps you can explain to LLS the difference between a greyhound (Canis lupus familiaris) and a human being (Homo Sapiens)

May the bridges I burn light your way
Re: The athletics/running thread
I did a good job of nobbling myself with a shit load of booze before parkrun. Might try a pork pie breakfast experiment this weekend.

Running tonight, footy tomorrow, running Thursday. Making up for the amount of cake I have eaten today I hope.

Re: The athletics/running thread
Just had a trot round Rivington, nice evening for it. Not nice enough for my mate to be running round there with his shirt off when I bumped into him near the replica ruin. Poseur. My concave chest remained well covered.Gooner Girl wrote:Running tonight, footy tomorrow, running Thursday. Making up for the amount of cake I have eaten today I hope.

It's dark in the village, not big on street lamps particularly here so no one will see anything (other then my running partner and he's not easily shocked!)

Back from my run. Felt surprisingly good. Just 5km but felt I could run further. And given I don't appear to be getting any faster I might start upping the mileage.

Nice one. The lighter nights make it so much easier to get out. Start cranking them miles outGooner Girl wrote:Back from my run. Felt surprisingly good. Just 5km but felt I could run further. And given I don't appear to be getting any faster I might start upping the mileage.

Football training finishes for the season tomorrow so that's one less exercise session a week...Harry Genshaw wrote:Nice one. The lighter nights make it so much easier to get out. And yes, light evenings do make it easier - but they also means the lure of the sandpit Tuesday nights (for jumping into, not making castles in although that is fun too...)

You've achieved a lot, and probably despite all the sport science stuff not because of itLeverEnd wrote:I was told by an orthopaedic surgeon at 14 that I was skeletally unsuited to running and should find something else to do. This is because I have been fortunate enough to meet various sports injury specialists who have helped me through. I haven't achieved anything special but was a decent club runner and have had a lot of great experiences. Had I been born 30 years or more earlier I would have had to quit. I was going to post a long answer, but to tell you the truth I think it would only end up winding Mr Enfield into such a tight knot that I'm afraid several of his tendons would snap simultaneously, so I'll feck off out of athletics/running and leave you in peace (for a bit).
(PS. I'm doing my first fell race of the season in 27 days time. I won't be 'training' for it, and I won't warm up beforehand, but I can guarantee two things - I won't have any tears or strains or splints and I won't come last.)
That's not a leopard!
