I don't think Moritz has it in him to regularly play 70+ minutes at a decent level.

I won't knock Dougie for getting good performances from him as a bit of a 'supersub'

As an aside, SmokingFrazier..

Where would you start Moritz in our team?

LeverEnd wrote: You could have summed all that up by just posting minutes Trotter has played in the last 5 games and minutes Moritz has played. To be fair to Dougie we have done pretty well in those games, but if I were Moritz this one stat would be enough to see me on my way.

And where's your Dougie departure thread page predictor, party pooper?

Moritz and Danns have been the biggest puzzles to me (by their long absences even when fit) - but as Lever points out, as much as folk have slagged Trotter - we have garnered a decent number of points in the games he has played! maybe dougie knows more than we think... maybe Moritz just isn't at his best slogging it out from the start and is better against tiring defences? it is a bit of a puzzle...

Moritz - didn't he only sign a 1yr deal? and had done the same at Palace? I've always thought that a bit odd - not really sure what's going on with the guy - doesn't want to be tied down?

how did dougie play him at Palace - was he a starter or a supersub?

Very good question Bish.

http://espnfc.com/player/_/id/105292/an ... tz?cc=5739" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

2012/13 Statistics
TEAM ............. GS SB G A
Crystal Palace . 12 17 . 5 2
Season Totals . 13 19 . 5 2

The above is difficult to format well here, but it says he STARTED 12 league matches, was SUB in 17.

Scored 5, 2 direct assists.

So similar use as here, somewhat more successful.

I said the other week that he reminds me of Arnie Gunnlargsson in that he's often anonymous when he starts but certainly makes an impact coming off the bench. However, that can be a bit chicken and egg. He WANTS more playing time and has inferred he may move on unless he gets it. Since saying that he's played LESS. Dougie in a sulk again ??? Shirley not..

I'd never play him before Mavies and we couldn't afford to play both. I'm not having it that Trotter's a better bet though.

For me (with regards Moritz), it's as simple as this..

He can't play centre mid and he can't play up-front.

He can only really be used in that number 10 position in between.. Yet, we look shit playing that system. So although I think he has ability, he just doesn't fit.

I would never sacrifice Mason / Juke / Davies / Danns for him in a month of sundays

Moritz has lots of talent, but he can't run.

He is good to come on and change a game, or keep the ball if we're hanging on.

From the start he plays behind a striker or is used as a substitute.

He's got a cracking left-peg but his attitude is shit and he doesn't do owt else. Good player when there's a lot of space. Less than useless when there isn't.

So ... we're agreed. Moritz is a fine player from the bench. You'd not select him as a starter under normal conditions. If he's willing to stay on that basis ... good stuff. If he isn't and he leaves ... thanks for the memories and good luck.

Right. Next .....

Trotter looks like Pratley a league below (a scary prospect). Unless there's a miraculous turnaround in the next 5 games thanks for the taster but no ta.

Any disagreements :D?

Only from Dougie I think.

Other loanees to keep in an ideal world, in order of likelihood:

Danns
Juktiewicz
Mason
Hutton

Though I don't think either of the last two are very likely at all.

I read that Danns (& Trotter) had already had discussions about staying. Both are out of contract and I'm not sure if anything is signed but the way it read it was all agreed.

One x "yay", 1 x "wtf ?".

i think we've already been told we can't have Mason - or that if we want him - he'll cost us an arm and four legs... or summat...

I still can't believe he went off a couple of months back after coming on 5 minutes previously with a 'sprinters injury'

The irony wasn't lost on me..

Pissed me off though..

Was that since Solskjaer took over? Thought that was first time around when Mackay was still there?

Solksjaer seems to have signed about a million players in every position. Spose will depend who they get rid of when they come down but whilst I wouldn't be holding my breath, I wouldn't think getting him back even if only on loan for a year would be completely out of the question.

Don't think we've a hope in hell of meeting Hutton's wages though.

Who's gonna pay him more than what we could? Perhaps Wigan, or QPR, but they're already stocked

Yes. That was the basis of us getting him. That said, Cardiff now look sure to drop into the Championship, so their position may change.

I don't see us getting him though.

If Iliev &/or Clough are any kop we should be finding out however.

Hutton ; DF says in todays B(E)N that he'd love to re-loan him next season but fears he'll get signed by a mid/low, maybe a newly promoted (my addition) Premiership team. If not then he'd be welcome back with open arms.

My understanding is that Villa have to pay Spurs a small fortune if they play him again, hence them freezing him out. So he'll move one way or another. I'd be happy if it was to here but that's far from a shoe-in (what IS a "shoe-in" btw ?).

Meanwhile, Tierney will get a full summer's pre-season training in so should be right & ready.

Yeah I thought a lower Prem side would be after him, or a newly promoted/relegated.

And it's 'shoo-in', horse racing term for letting a horse win easily, shooing it in.
