The only bit that I understand there is that you're hoping for a dry weekend

sissy bar = back rest for a pillion passenger
saddlebags = I think you can grasp what they are!
no more... = this is not a poseur sports-bike with crappy plastic fairings for wankers!
grumble exhausts = specially adapted (non-standard) exhaust pipes designed to give off a proper throaty grumbling roar that sounds like a dinosaur climaxing - and frightens poor lilly-livered car drivers!

Oh dear. I get all the rest now, cheers, but what on earth's the point of disturbingly load exhausts? That's on a par with youths driving Vauxhall Corsas with BOOM BOOM BOOM coming out of them - all a bit cringeworthy really, but at least they have the folly of youth in their defence.

There not that bad actually, just a bit of a throaty rasp to add character as opposed to the mundane soulless things they put out nowadays.
It takes the biscuit when the EU is looking to make silent electric cars run with an engine sound track because they are too quiet. (For once, I am not EU bashing, just commenting)

↑↑↑↑ No Hibes. I woukd, equally for once, agree that some noise is needed. We've always identified that traffic exists vua, in part, their noise. Electric cars are eerily silent. There'd be pedestrian and cyclist carnage if there were many around. without bouce.

Come on, thebish, Hoboh's always in one crisis or another.

Whilst I would never ride a bike on the road I do enjoy looking at them. Their simplicity (an engine with two wheels) and the engineering that goes into them fascinates me. Some years ago a friend bought himself a Suzuki 600cc model. It was beautifully crafted. His came, or was ordered, with panniers and decent mudguards as he was using it for the odd long ride but generally short trips. I got the impression though it would have made a more than acceptable and comfortable touring bike for runs such as Sydney-Melbourne or Sydney-Brisbane (that's about 800+Km of road each).
