hmmm... have been looking for summat to watch since finishing off American Horror Story serieseseses 1 and 2... is it on Netflix?

Catching up on some Live From The Apollo's. Rich Hall. First time I saw his stuff he was possibly the driest, wittiest, most sarcastic funny 4ucker that I ever did see. Brilliant. However, in every single thing I've seen him in since he's just got steadily worse and worse. Is it me? Do I expect too much?

He was fantastic at the Fringe last year. From what I've seen he's at his sardonic best as himself (not his Otis Lee Crenshaw alter ego) doing an hour of stand-up, not some pared down thing for TV.

I saw him at the Lowry a few years ago, he was very good. I avoid these TV panel shows on the whole. Have to say the 2001 Otis Lee show that was released on DVD was excellent. Not usually a fan of comedy songs but some of those are just brilliant. Have watched it many times, but appear to have lost the DVD.

Otis Lee Crenshaw? Is that when he does that dreadful musical stuff? I find that thoroughly unwatchable. He's got some shows coming up at the Lowry under the title of Rich Hall's Hoe Down, which I imagine to be more of that so won't be going.

i watched a michael douglas film from the 80s at about 13:00 o clock, on some non-scrambled tv station (after gunsmoke or 'i love lucy' or whatever) and it were dropping cusses pretty regularly. i'll not grass em up coz it made me laugh (the swearing did) .

was about vigilante judges .

hal holbrook's still alive too, but i think i already knew that coz i think he were in that biker's thing that's a bit crappy.

HH played peggy bundy's dad in it. he's nearly 90 now. nearly as 'woah' as finding out the old jew doctor in saint elsewhere's still kicking.

every bastard in it (the biker thing) is unlikable, and once the mass holiday to ira country happened , i bailed out.

think i read it on wiki, but its reasoning makes sense.

not seen it (la bamba) properly, but, lou diamond phillips is usually good. but i remember him more from that thing where that teacher teaches them maths.

Always liked Los Lobos, but Gee, Santos brothers Sleepwalk. Forgot all about that one. Edit that one, it was Santo and Johnny ? . Les Paul and a few more covered it.

dunno about that i'm not that well up on it.. and the tv seemed to play up when it come on, no doubt it'll be repeated or rentable for next to nowt.

the buddy holly related music singles i like are-

the bobby fuller cover of the crickets's 'i fought the law' , his own 'let her dance' , eddie cocheran's 'something else' mainly for the first five seconds being like gunfire, because casio used it on a keyboard loop and it got used to billy-o by a load of west indian reggae and related artists in the 80s.

the shadows's 'apache' is classic - could listen to it all day, that tornadoes record telstar...

its the production, joe meek and them , sounding like it's from the future.

bizzare that they all seemed to die early for one reason or another.

youtube's amazing for this kinda old , black and white, music video stuff. this were one i'd found on it for no particular reason last week.

Jet Harris, ex Shadows bass player was also in a skiffle group at one time. Gee, now I'm thinking Nancy Whisky and Chas McDevitt doing Freight Train..

I've absolutely no idea why but your mention of the gunfire intro brought to mind Boney M's Night Flight to Venus drum intro. I've got the album somewhere on cassette.

Saw a pocket sized gizmo in Aldi the other day for a tenner, that converts cassette recordings into a digital format. Handy if like me, you have nothing to play them on.

How on earth have I not seen this film before?? Brilliantly funny, with great performances by Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson and Ralph Fiennes. Can't say that I've seen much of Farrell's work previously and never realised how good he is at doing comedy. Going to have to watch it again now.

Bruges looks like a beautiful city too. Definitely one to visit.

Really? nowhere near as good as In Bruges but not remotely dire. IMHO.
