We might. But I'm far from convinced a managerial change will produce the magical result everyone seems to think it will.

I look at a lot of relegated sides who never came back, and many of them changed managers several times in very similar situations to ours and never got back. The odds are definitely way worse than many on here make out.
But even you are now admitting that the job is beyond Dougie, so what have we got to lose?

I think it is quite likely that managerial change in the next 12 months will see us relegated. IMHO Dougie is taking his time to slowly build this team, we have seen in glimpses what we have been capable of, were unbeaten in recent weeks ad yet the Freedman out brigade are still moaning. We are not going to get anywhere by sacking a manager every season or even every other season.
The problem is, yes we've seen what we're capable of and then he goes and changes the whole bloody team/system around!!
What a hero, What a man...... Ooooh, what a bad foul...

I'd imagine that with compensation and stuff - Eddie would have a bit of a whack to lose... cash that I'd rather he spent on players...

can anyone remember when Dougie's contract is up?

Dunno, but Iain Dowie's waiting in the wings.

Had we binned Coyle a year earlier, dammit ... 6 months earlier ... we'd have survived that relegation battle. God knows whether that would have just put it off for a year but we certainly would have managed that season.

... & the money that season ballooned and wouldn't have hurt our chances longer term.

A new manager then would have been a Premiership level manager, we'd have been an attractive proposition.

Anyway, we are where we are. Bish is right, Freedman has next year to actually achieve some level of consistency and 'success' of sorts. The first 10 games are critical to him, if not to us as a club.

He got a 3 (2.75) season contract. He has next year left.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
"I understand you are a very good footballer" ... "I try".

I'm saying that any manager will need to recruit some players of a certain standard. Struggling to buy Jutkiewicz is not a good sign at this stage.

And I don't care who is in charge, the end result will be the same, without some key signings.

BWFC_Insane wrote:It's really quite simple. If we want to go up we need to build a team with the right quality to go up. If we can't then we are looking for a miracle.

And before the 'look at Burnley' brigade chime in, how many seasons have Burnley spent at this level, waiting for said magic blend and miracle on a relatively low budget.

They've not just clicked their fingers and made it happen.
Four. We've had two and came down with far better players than Burnley's bugger's muddle. The clock's ticking.
How many seasons have Burnley been in the top flight in the last two decades?

If it's all about right appointments why have Burnley, for example only just gone up now? Why not immediately on relegation? And why not in the decade before?

Our players we came down with, patently weren't good enough weren't brave enough and weren't the right mix to tackle this league.

We've only been able to do limited amounts to correct that and I fear this will continue.
Oh, hang on, so your question has gone from the perfectly relevant "how many seasons have Burnley spent at this level," to "how many seasons have Burnley spent in the top flight?". Which one do want answering? The fact that they only spent one season in the top flight further strengthens the point that they came down with poorer players.

The rest of your post is just absolute waffle that makes no point nor asks any pertinent questions.

Now then, you asked - "how many seasons have Burnley spent at this level,"

The answer to your question is Four. We've had two and, whether you like it or not we came down with better players than Burnley did. This is quite simply proven by the very fact that we came down with the cream of their crop as well as a bunch of experienced premier league players and internationals.

Now you can harp back to the times of Leighton James and Peter Noble if you like, but altering your question because you didn't like the correct answer just makes you look a bit silly.
It is very relevant. My point is that Burnley have run themselves without running up huge debt, run within their means.

The result of that is one season of top flight football and a promotion in a decade and more.

As we are seemingly planning on running ourselves within broadly similar parameters, the reality is that we might need to adjust our expectations accordingly.
The amount of debt we've got is besides the point. It doesn't affect the performances of our players.

We have a more talented squad and should perform accordingly.

Ah! In the alternant reality painted by the insane idiot, we wont have any money for new players, or if we have, they wont be the ones he wanted.

Better to change the manager and work with what we have.

Bullshit!

How many times in this recent good run have we actually not looked like throwing it away? How many games have we had other teams on the backfoot? How many times have we thought thank God thats over when the refs blown?
Anyways Moyes is available :D

And who is this manager who is waiting in the wings to manage an average a championship club who is better than Freedman. Find me this man.

I've said it before and I'll say it again! We've been achieving play off form for 33 consecutive games now. Does that qualify as "some level of consistency"? :)

If we weigh it against the nailed-on relegation form that preceded it, then yes, by all means.

Seeing as we will finish short of the goal of the playoff places at the minimum and were concerned with relegation for a while, this season, apart from a few results has been shite.

I think you mean if we don't weight it against the first ten games: those games were not consistent with what succeeded them.

But, that isn't really the point I've been making. What I'm puzzled about is why people persist with "Dougie Out". He had a bad start and then he put it right and has kept it right. What is it that he's not doing that he should be? (I'm fully aware of the type of responses this will provoke )
