Re: Abdoulaye's going t'Souk transfer thread
Forgive me if I'm providing one of your obvious responses but he had us at Championship-winning form for the latter part of last season and managed to completely derail that, before improving us with other clubs' players. He's earned the right not to be binned at the end of the season, but should be on very thin ice early next season. Any sign of this season's chaos and a quick boot out of the door should be in order.TonyDomingos wrote:I've said it before and I'll say it again! We've been achieving play off form for 33 consecutive games now. Does that qualify as "some level of consistency"?bobo the clown wrote:Anyway, we are where we are. Bish is right, Freedman has next year to actually achieve some level of consistency and 'success' of sorts.
I don't have any personal issue with him, just don't like his style or think that he's any good. He's put a lot of time in learning his trade, if can apply that to learning from his mistakes he might do ok.

Pointless discussion about DF. He ain't going nowhere. We need some new players for him to work with. Hopefully Sordell's hatrick will mean someone may indeed be tricked to come in for him, and pay us back some of the 4 million our previous manager paid for him.
Hopefully, DF would then be allowed some of it to invest in some "no name" inexpensive players with the guts to help us reach the play offs next season.

I know.BWFC_Insane wrote:For it to be his team he has to get the chance to sign the players he feels we need for the objectives required.
So far he hasn't had that chance. And has said so.
If only he'd have had three transfer windows in which to stamp his mark on the squad who knows where we'd be right now.
Anyway, to be fair his number one priority was to sort out the behind the scenes gubbins first so no complaints really.

Meanwhile, on top of all this, a poor second dingle town, a shithole to quote Dan, manage to get promoted to the Prem with a shitter squad and shitter manager than Dougass (allegedly)!
We are down here for years now, Freedman will go and leave a bunch of grafting never make its for the next gaffer to work with and on it will go!

I can only assume they're belting, or they would be if he'd been allowed to shop at Staples rather than Ryman's. Or something.

Nothing to do with much, but I'll ask in case he disappears without a trace mid season.. where's Tierney?

Re: Abdoulaye's going t'Souk transfer thread
Apparently training again but they announced there was no point rushing him back. which makes sense. Should be ready and in great shape for the start of next season. Looking forward to seeing him again, decent player.TANGODANCER wrote:Nothing to do with much, but I'll ask in case he disappears without a trace mid season.. where's Tierney?

We've failed to win in 31 of our league games this season.. Yeah, let's just concentrate on his good patch and overlook everything else..

Had this same conversation with a Geordie yesterday. Because Newcastle have lost five on the spin, several of their type are saying that they've had a shit season when in reality it hasn't been bad at all. Conversely, anyone looking at our papered-over-the-cracks season and conveniently forgetting how truly fecking dreadful it's been needs to have a word with themselves.boltonboris wrote:We've failed to win in 31 of our league games this season.. I'm all for positivity (honest!) but talk of 'play-off form' when we're 2 games from the end of a season when we've never been remotely in contention for a play-off spot is grasping at straws.Bruce Rioja wrote:Had this same conversation with a Geordie yesterday. Also the fact that we are finishing better than we started mean feck all when you consider our form at the end of last season compared to the start of this.
It's a start again from scratch job and a last chance season for a rookie manager who has exhausted the fans' goodwill and deserves to have the pressure on his position from the first game.

Okay I've had a word. I don't like to get drawn into these things but here's my take.
Trying not to overlook everything else I can see that:
We've kept 11 clean sheets out of 36 games. That's 31%
We've lost 14 out of 36 games which is 39%
In our first 10 games we got 6 points
In our next 26 games we got 48 points.
OVERALL I would say the season has been poor because of the poor start. Unfortunately this has set a malaise which doesn't appear easy to see past.
Dougie will get the closed season and 10 games into next. If we start the same way he'll be gone.
I don't think the majority of the season (since October) has been that bad. And I went to Reading.
Re: Abdoulaye's going t'Souk transfer thread
Don't see many disagreeing with that. We have been in pretty good (though not world beating) form for a long time. The appalling start means that's been pointless. You can believe both of those without thinking the former excuses the latter. It's been a shit season, with most of that concentrated into a truly, truly, woeful beginning.LeverEnd wrote:I'm all for positivity (honest!) but talk of 'play-off form' when we're 2 games from the end of a season when we've never been remotely in contention for a play-off spot is grasping at straws.Bruce Rioja wrote:Had this same conversation with a Geordie yesterday. Having said that I hope we start the season on fire and do brilliantly. I don't want him to fail, just don't have any faith at the moment that he'll succeed.

Re: Abdoulaye's going t'Souk transfer thread
So to sum up, if you include both the shite start AND the reasonable finish (in other words take the season as a whole without cherry picking good/bad results to suit) will see us finish circa 14th.
That's lower half, actually worse than last year and we all agree that Freedman's a cock.
Glad that's sorted.

I don't think we're going up under ANY manager next season. The squad simply won't be good enough, whoever is in charge imo.

Poor start, GtE?
That'll be the worst start to a season in the club's entire history then.
We've equaled our record defeat
We've drawn 10 games at home
We've lost 7 games at home
This season has been a fecking disaster and awful to watch - let's not lose sight of that.

And some would say we would have been justified in sacking him off. By not doing so we have improved (our points tally, if not our performances).
We've lost 5 (league) games at home.
We didn't equal our record defeat.
I'm losing sight of nothing but let's also not lose sight of the fact that we battered Blackburn and Leeds and have had more away wins than in a long time. Many people have also said what a fantastic atmosphere there has been at the away games. Yes, even at Reading (did I mention I was there?)
